"President Trump and Speaker Johnson have both said that this will remain a states’ issue,” Scott said"

These guys make me want to gag with their "President Trump" crap, as if he IS the president with the ability to determine policy (not to mention really insulting to the actual president).

Thank you, Mr Kristol, for mentioning former Governor Hogan's observation. It's important more of us be aware of his integrity and good judgement.

It's also important for us to remember that Larry Hogan is a republican, and if we let him into the senate, he will tow the party line, just like all the others. In fact, he'll gaslight us about ever giving a tinker's dam about the rule of law.

I see that Selber is back to his one-sided analysis of the war in Gaza.

1) No consideration for innocent Palestians. To Seber Palestinians in Gaza = Hamas.

2) As a result of #1, Selber keeps pushing the narrative that an attack on Hamas in Rafah will magically avoid killing innocent civilians. Nay, it's even worse than that, he doesn't even acknowledge the fact innocent Palestinian civilians live in Gaza.

Ughh as evidence on this point, in Seber's last Gaza piece, he EXCLUSIVELY focused on getting ISRAELI'S back to their homes at the northern border. Not ONCE did he mention any concern for the 2.2 million Palestinians in Gaza who have been displaced by the indiscriminate attacks by the IDF.

Fuck, I sure hope he's at least getting paid by the Israeli government for pushing its propaganda.

All these upside down American flags, really? Because a private citizen has been found guilty of crimes he was proven to have committed in a court of law. Just because of a position he once held, he is not immune from prosecution nor should he be. I am guessing t***p is going to try and go directly to the supreme court and hopefully will be rightfully turned down.

Leave it to Will Selber to lay out what the deal is (literally and figuratively). Seriously, if I were a politician, this would be both part of a morning brief and among my talking points, particularly on the subject of Hamas. We can never lose sight of who and what Israel is dealing with, putting aside internal Israeli conflict.

A few comments...

1) “2000 Mules, One Ass” – quote of the day, if not the week, if not the month.

2) I once got into an on-line discussion with someone about 2020 voter fraud, and I was told to check out “2000 Mules”. After reading several reviews of that film, I had to admit that I wasn’t really sure what it was supposed to be telling us (other than something bad happened). For example, some election official in Georgia had publicly stated that even if someone had actually illegally brought too many votes to a voting center, the votes themselves were still legal. Only the perpetrator had done anything wrong. So that can’t have swung the election. Did “2000 Mules” claim that the ballots themselves were fraudulent? OK – how did they get around the checks specifically designed to detect such fraud? Were the ballots stolen? OK – how did they get around the signature matching check? And why didn’t the people who were expecting to get a ballot not complain about not getting one?

And, above all, what evidence is there to back up whatever claims they were making?

I never got an answer to these questions. My guess is because there wan’t one.

3) I’m sure there are other candidates, but is anyone more emblematic of the corruption of Trump than Dinesh D’Souza? Agree with him or not, he used to be a serious thinker. Now that he’s hitched his wagon to Trump, he’s just a clown (or an ass, take your pick).

4) “In a less rotten information ecosystem, telling easily debunkable lies might result in some social consequences” – this is certainly true, just as it certainly true that truth or falsity are secondary concerns. What matters is that the story paints Trump in a positive light.

Case in point (#1): When Trump tells some undeniable, pants-on-fire lie, his supporters don’t get mad at Trump, the source of the lie. They get mad at whoever points out the lie.

Case in point (#2): The Fox internal e-mails released as part of the defamation lawsuit showed that the Fox folks knowingly lied to their audience. Normally, one would think that a news organization caught blatantly (and continuously) lying would have serious egg on their face and be forced to do some mea culpas. But to Fox (and their audience), it was Monday. The only consequence that I’m aware of is that Fox acknowledged that they needed to lie even more if they were going to keep their audience share.

5) Others have commented on this, but I have to ask in all sincerity: is Hamas really capable of another October 7 attack? Supposedly, the IDF had been warned about the attack but didn’t take the warning seriously. I’ll bet they’ll take the next warning seriously. And if they do take it seriously, would Hamas be able to do that much damage?

The next time a pandemic hits, this country is in trouble. Right off the bat, half the country is predisposed—thanks to Trump and his acolytes—to disbelieve medical science. Trump is planning to dismantle the Office of Pandemic Preparedness—again. Think he’ll fund another vaccine? God help us if he gets re-elected.

I am so grateful for your work. It keeps my cortisol Levels down. I am hoping your urging the Biden campaign to be more aggressive is taken seriously. I do have to add, however, that I live in the west near two reservations and I think “circling the wagons” might not be the best turn of phrase.

As the article points out, the debunking of "2000 Mules" was easy and immediate. Salem should have and could have debunked it themselves before agreeing to distribute anything produced by the likes of Dinesh. They chose to be part of the problem and therefore deserve their consequences.

Should have actually been debunked years ago.

It was debunked years ago. However, it takes times to file defamation lawsuits and have them be adjudicated.

I'm glad that stupid "2000 Mules" POS was removed, however, it's hard to unring a bell. I remember when TFG held a screening of that POS at Mara-Lardo. I'm hoping the man who was defamed got more than an apology and received a nice, healthy chunk of change from that joke of a Salem company.

Don’t worry, Bill. It seems to me that Biden will be moving aggressively to separate Trump from independent voters after all: https://www.threads.net/@hardydavidl/post/C7u3fe_RvGQ/?xmt=AQGzBgVqcMkxR-YfJvjWID1_AsRnmWyOwE1sUOJCyFB3HQ

Will, Super piece about Israel/Hamas Biden proposed negotiations. Biden’s Foreign Policy chops don’t look so hot right now. The leftist Activists that rose up to weep and wail about Gaza without noticing the viciousness of Hamas have, IMO, been appalling. I can’t ever remember this being done by elected representatives to a sitting President of their own Party. There seems to be foreign interference in these and the Student Sit-ins. Bibi fears going to jail unless he erases Hamas and blocks tunnels large enough to run trains through. Biden knows his Jewish supporters are crucial to his success. And no one appears to be distinguishing between “Israel” and the Ashkenazi (hard conservative) settlers in the Heights. If we were only just “Between a Rock and a Hard Place.” I would advise Biden to Make no promises, keep his head up and have Aides relay podcasts and blogs from Eastern European countries. Historically it is a never ending war.

I, for one, would be perfectly fine with Biden tweaking Trump’s nose about this with disingenuous politeness a la his “I hear you’re free on Wednesday’s” shade challenging Trump to debates. And then make sure every third party PAC associated with him has “convicted felon” and Trump 2016 telling us all about why Trump 2024 shouldn’t still be running or allowed anywhere near the presidency, along with Jeanine Pirro 2016 telling us [he] cannot take the Oval Office if he’s just under investigation or indictment, much less convicted of 34 felony counts.

But in general, I fear that the Biden campaign won’t put real effort into stamping ‘convicted felon’ on Trump’s forehead. And if they don’t, the electorate will little note, nor long remember, what happened in that courtroom in New York. And that in turn would be bad for the Biden campaign, and for the nation.

Wow! Here I am, agreeing with Bill Kristol. Proof no one can predict the political future in what passes for American politics of the past 30 years.

I wonder if there should be a compromise between trump and Biden. trump will stop endangering witnesses and jurors and Biden will refer to trump as a "quality" felon. Maybe we could have a t-shirt.

I keep wondering if there is some way to get 'truths' amplified in social media in the way that disinformation and lies like 2000 Mules that grow like weeds in social media space? I know virtually nothing about how social media algorithms work, but if they work in one direction, why not in the opposite direction? I picture something like "2000 Mules all LIES!" or "2000 Mules completely debunked" popping up in the news feeds or whatever of people that watched or read it or that are likely to believe it.
