Tim, I haven’t paid much attention to the polls and here are 2 reasons why:

1) I’m 72 and retired. My cell phone is never far from me. I have it set to block all calls that aren’t on my contacts list.

As a result I have not answered a single polling phone call. I lived in AZ 2 years ago so most of the blocked calls are from the 928 area code and I guess they may be about the AZ races (in addition to Medicare plans and home warranty plans!). I suspect that there are many people like me, young and old, who only use a cell phone and just don’t answer calls from unknown callers. That would result in a lot of people who have not been “polled”

2) I live in one of dozens of gated communities on the north side of San Antonio. Homeowners Associations forbid door-to-door soliciting so door knocking just doesn’t/can't happen here.

My point is, I think too many people, like me, have not been asked about their preference in this election. Who are the pollsters talking to? Mainly people who still have landlines? People who respond to those sketchy looking online polls in emails and on social media? People who answer their landline phone calls from unknown callers. I think we may all suspect who most of those people are. Do we want to depend on their opinions?
