Wait, Ted's not with The Bulwark any more? What'd I miss?

I wish we could have heard more of this Ted Johnson during his tenure at the Bulwark. I was excited for a Black voice in the mix when he first joined, and always craved more of his perspective given the right's manipulation of race to demonize any conversation that grapples with the white supremacist roots of our past and their impact on the Black American experience. Thank you JVL for continuing to bring Ted's insights into our dialog.

JVL: I mostly admire your writing and your suggested materials, but the Marvel Comic Universe is just that: A Comic. Whatever entertainment value it has is, in my opinion, all it has. You’re lead with MTG’s “projection”. I submit that Political Science associating its work product with Marvel is silly.

On the "side-note": Of *course* there's a trans flag🏳️‍⚧️ , along with every other flavor of Pride flag 🏳️‍🌈, There are many, many variations, allowing folks to celebrate their LGBTQ+ identities. But *of course* displaying one is not in opposition to also celebrating American citizenship. 🙄

This ridiculous statement from Marjorie Taylor Greene's is like saying that people who sport awareness ribbons🎗️on their lapels must hate America, because they're supposed to have a flag pin 🇺🇸 on there. 😑

We should propose a trial separation, with a complete severing of finances. States can only have/spend what they pay - no more additional federal funding for anyone. I'm pretty sure the states who put more into the federal coffers (ahem NT/NJ/MA/NY) than they take out would be happy to keep the extra cash.

You're right, JVL -- great column from Ted. I congratulated him over at WaPo too, and I'm happy to report that I wasn't the only Bulwarker doing so. He knows that his friends have his back.

Here's hoping we can find a way for the GOP and the country to divorce from MTG.

Well we can always drop a piano on her.

I bet MTG doesn’t recall the disaster that was the Articles of Confederation. The U.S. adopted the Constitution because allowing states the power she wants them to have didn’t work well.

Recall? I'm willing to bet she's never heard of it.

Yes there's a trans flag actually. 😊

Hey JVL. I’m definitely a fan - and I know that like a dozen people have already commented on this - but I too feel the need to register my great surprise at the fact that you didn’t know there’s a trans (pride) flag. I’m a bit shocked, actually, and kind of disappointed - I’ve been left wondering to myself *how* an intelligent and well-informed person could possibly be unaware of it. (I wouldn’t be surprised if Tim Miller was a bit shocked, too.) I don’t identify as LGBTQ, but in my particular corners of the internet, it’s fairly basic common knowledge, taken for granted. I think you’re great, dude, but I hope that going forward you remain aware that your knowledge of trans issues may have some real holes that need patching.

Stay cool, friend :)

P.S. I just noticed - Charlie’s article from yesterday has artwork with a variation of the trans flag! That appeared on the site the *same day* you asked “is there a trans flag?” 🤔

I'd like a National divorce from MTG - AND Kevin McCarthy. . .

Greene discourages me. I think it's not just her complete stupidity and lack of any cogent understanding of anything. It's that she is so smugly proud of herself. She thinks she's a pioneer thinker and trailblazer.

I'm pretty sure that the list of divorce policy proposals was generated by ChatMTG.

JVL, loved "irony is dead". Do you think she even knows what irony is?

She thinks it's the opposite of "rusty. . ."
