Ha, not a terribly special story: I read about it in a book, was intrigued and tracked down a DVD, kind of loved it, and then saw a vintage poster for like $30 or some such. Thought it would make a nice addition to my collection. A month or too later, Quentin Tarantino wrote a whole essay for the New Beverly blog about it, which led to a big resurgence in interest.
