As bad as I knew yesterday would be, somehow having it all actually happen was worse. A man who committed sedition against the United States of America took the oath of office (notably not with his hand on the Bible, probably so he didn’t burst into flames) to protect and defend the very nation he attempted to betray 4 years ago. I really hope congressional and senate Dems read this today Bill and follow your advice. Yesterday gave us some easy lay ups, so it would be nice to use them.
No mention that I saw from the Trump worshippers, about him not putting his hand on the Bible. I think he did that on purpose because in his mind he is above God.
Ashley - there's a less humorous aspect to your quip about the bible (you're on same page as Colbert's monologue last evening, good company for humor 😁). The reality is that, as a showman, the bible is simply a prop for his barker act. Most infamous example is his St. John's Church pose in 2020. There, he needed the bible for his image. Yesterday there were so many trappings of his importance that the bible was superfluous. We know from his inability ever to answer a question about its content that it's nothing to him, other than a piece of gear on the set of the stage that is his life.
And yet, there is some relief that I feel, in that they are now going to actually have to start doing things. The time for people to say "he didn't really mean it when he said..." is over. He had to pardon or commute all the J6 people, because leaving anyone behind would have forced the question "why?" In fact, that question should still be asked: Why only a commutation for the 16? That suggests what they did was wrong? What was it they did that the President agrees was wrong?

Is there any way to like this post a million times?

God you are so right. Nailed it. And honored to be thinking along the same lines as Colbert!

I think at this point it’s more likely that the Bible or anything Trump touches bursts into flames not the other way around.
Such a good point! 🤣🤣
