As a fellow shout-it-from-the-hilltops fan of The Witch, I appreciate the Under the Silver Lake recommendation… and it looks like it’s streaming on Hulu / Showtime!
Man, I'm 31 and a nerd and my friends who are less conventionally nerdy than I am eat all that Crunchyroll stuff up. I've seen the last two DBZ movies in theaters with them.
I respectfully disagree. Even if the story is thin (which, okay, it is), the world created for this movie is simply amazing. Exceptional attention to detail throughout, it is a creative, imaginative look at how culture and language change. Religions fall and religions rise, the cult of the V8 in Fury Road is facinating. In short, I want to know more about everything in the movie, but the movie sticks to its central idea. And spectacle, YES, spectacle!

Somewhere, Vic Mattis got very angry that someone said something nice about Under the Silver Lake
one of these days he'll get it

It's spectacle, man! Spectacle is great. This is the point of NOPE, I believe.
