Hey, do you dislike Donald Trump? Then you might enjoy this photo spread of provincial Scots expressing their dislike of his ugly golf course and his ugly dealings: https://www.theguardian.com/culture/gallery/2023/jul/21/the-scottish-villagers-who-defied-donald-trump. It was really a treat, after seeing the clip of a nice old lady explaining to DeSantis how much she "loves" Trump, to read this: "Americans need to see Trump as we see him here. We recognise him as a dishonest, untrustworthy, unreliable, tax-dodging imposter." There's your real salt-of-the-earth.
I spend so much time with, "what's the charge, will there be a trial? When? Will enough voters care? What ridiculous defense will maga offer?" I have lost sight of the fact that what he did was morally wrong.
“DeSantis pushed back on the notion Trump should be "held accountable" if there is evidence he committed a crime by attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, telling CNN during a Tuesday interview that it's "wrong" for the country to go "down the road of criminalizing political differences."
Yes we have political differences. Democrats believe in the rule of law and current republicans don’t. It appears that the republicans are criminalizing these differences.
"“'t is a ghastly reality that the only job left that Donald Trump could get in this country is president of the United States.' [quoting Tom Nichols on yesterday's podcast]
And yet, his grip on the GOP seems stronger than ever."
1) You and guests have observed more than once that the Republican Party's problem isn't the current and aspiring elected officials and their enablers, it's the voters. It would be immensely helpful for you to investigate what is going on for that 35% or more or voters who continue to support Trump. The investigation needs to go much deeper than the familiar refrains about the bubble of the not-conservative-but-reactionary media ecosystem (e.g., why do they so devotedly KEEP listening?), about Trump's continuing self-portrayal of victimhood (does his loving audience feel he identifies with THEIR victimhood?), about Trump's "normalizing" of racist/antisemitic/anti-disabled people/anti-heroes-like-John-McCain in, as David French recently pointed out, an atmosphere combining rage and joy; at least some of them know Jack Smith isn't really "deranged" and Biden isn't really the head of a "crime family" and so on, but why do they need so much to hear those things said out loud in public? They are our fellow citizens and all of us need to work together on our country's serious challenges. How can we do that if we don't understand why they're saying what they're saying? Thank you.
F**k DeSantis - hes toast and everyone knows it from Trump on. The only ones who don’t are Casey and her puppy dog husband. Even his consultants , hustling the f**k out of his campaign funds know it. Give it up Gov - you’re done. So stop wasting our time -
Charlie it is good to have you back! I have a question: who are the "and allies" referred to when talking about Trump's plans after he is (God forbid) reelected?
The indictment in DC if it comes is certainly more worrying to t***p than the one in FL. It is not likely he will own the judge he gets in DC like he does in FL
How desperate and immoral is the GOP? The fact that they cannot distance themselves or refuse to condemn him says it all. If this was Obama or Biden or Clinton, holy hell would rain down. Ironic they accuse Biden of weaponizing the DOJ, when it was Trump who did more to weaponize the FBI, the DOJ, Homeland Security, etc etc. Calling for absolute power should be a major red flag. His nonstop vitriol against Smith and the DOJ is a tell - he’s being held accountable for the first time in his entire corrupt life.

Trump sounds like a mob boss. How did we get here? What's wrong with these Republicans?

I hate to say it but I'd prefer OJ as our 2024 president over Trump. He would do less damage.
Charlie Sykes is part of the problem. First off when was the GOP ever for small government when they were in charge.
Secondly he hurls insults at Harris but never explains the problem. She is much more accomplished than he is.
CS is a self impressed dick and an immensely dishonest person.
I was surprised my parents aged; I thought they were immortal!

Have you read The History of the United States by Howard Zinn?
I am not sure if I have the title just right, and I don't know how to get back
here but if you look up Howard Zinn, you will find the book.

"A People's History of the United States."
Thanks, Joey!

Your honor the DA is only charging me with bank robbery because of our "political differences."
I’m pretty sure that Trump could also get elected governor of Florida
