Some have lost many family members to the slaughter in Gaza over the past year. Even to lose one loved one is too much. American authorities have brutally suppressed some of the campus protests supporting Palestinians. Grief is not expressed logically.
I think the Palestinians are an object lesson in how long people can be treated as if they are invisible before they start lashing out. This is a problem that predates 1948 in my view.

They are very short sited! Like the old adage: cutting off your nose to spite your face!
