Wow. Can we just make Bakari Sellers a permanent weekly guest? He’s just fascinating. I want to hear his takes on everything. And, as usual, Tim’s a better interviewer than most people who’ve made interviewing their entire career. *COUGH* Bill Maher.
Loved this podcast. Mr Sellers brings fresh insight to what can be stale topics. Wonderful advice to Tim for his daughter, and for any parent with a young daughter.
The advice Bakari gave to Tim about black girls brought tears to my eyes. I had a similar conversation with my daughter about 25 or so years ago, and she knows that she’s going to have to do the same with her children. Not much has changed! I have a Hispanic, Irish, and Filipino daughter and she was constantly ctiticized and questioned about her looks. The challenges our children deal with because of others’ parents (because they are children who are influenced by their families) are heartbreaking. Please bring Bakari back to the podcast!
This was a superb show. I hope we see Bakari on the podcast again! His advice at at the end was exceptionally inspiring and reassuring to me as someone who wants to adopt a child. The Bulwark has introduced me to so many fantastic people like Bakari and has impacted my life way beyond politics - so happy it exists!!
Great interview!!!!!!
Thanks. I will read Bakari’s book; thanks, also the work you do.
"what's the guy who's not that smart?"
I would have loved to hear Tim get to the 20th or 30th name until he got it correct.

"My village is probably doper than most" might be the best line in Bulwark podcast history.
The "equality feels like oppression" formulation Sellers used was, by itself, worth my subscription for this month.
Tim! You are nailing this Bulwark podcast thing.
