i actually thought the opposite to everyone else apparently that the new capt america movie was far better than most of the other marvel movies because it had a dollop of gravitas to it via the racial angle and this was a good thing. and since i was there for fun and not a big think or emotional ride, it was just enough, they salted it just right for french fries. i was not ordering potatoes au gratin. given that -- if instead i found myself in the middle of some "cap american schindler's list" [what critics appear to want] I'd probably have thrown my buttered popcorn at the screen. anyway the whole thing was far more believable in most ways than the rest of marvel's offerings which frankly i don't watch for believability much anyway but can we at least have some? I mean it has to be somewhat tethered to ... reality? somehow. For example the capt america's bad guy's motivations made far more sense than the bald chick in deadpool and wolfie ... And how about the big baddy everyone loves thanos? -- ok thanos was fun but wtf, he couldn't say snap double the resources vs half of population? come on -- he made no sense at all. and sorry but tech suits seem more believable than super vitamins etc... well it's all schlock really in the star wars vein -- so i stand by my opinion. i'm actually looking forward now to the next avengers, some motley crew of B-list super heroes -- sounds fun!
But now the Americans are the bad guys, how does Bond cope that his friend Felix Leiter has been fired without cause by Elon Musk and the CIA is now working part time for the Kremlin while the FBI is caught up investigating itself for crimes against January 6 rioters. Perhaps the villain will be some evil Ukrainian despot who has somehow gotten his dastardly democratic hands on a nuke that has found its way onto the black market because all the US nuclear security guys got canned for failing to respond to an email inviting them to provide 5 bullet points on what they did for their salary the previous week (number 3 will astonish you).
In response to the comment you got about where to find the 10 best movies, I just wanted to thank you for continuing to cover movies. It's important to pay attention to political news, but it's important for everyone's sanity to be able to have great other content. This is my favorite podcast.
The people that just paid $44mm for a Melania biopic is now going to be making James Bond films. I can’t see anything good coming of this. How much is Jeff going to pay Barron to be the next Bond?
I was just about to make a comment about how Lara Trump is going to be making her acting debut as the next Bond Girl and will get like $20mil to do so. She's already a terrible singer, why not try acting next?
