Democrats should also start talking about how the conditions of their imprisonment violates the Geneva Conventions--since Trump is disappearing them under claimed authority of the Alien Enemies Act.

It’s not just Kilmar Abrego Garcia, it’s everyone sent to that prison. We don’t even know who they are! And I wish people would stop calling this “deportation.” This is rendition. The United States is now disappearing people like Pinochet Chile and every other evil regime of history. It’s so shameful. But make no mistake, there are many Americans who are just fine with this. You don’t need to have X or Facebook to know this—just look at the crap on good old neighborly NextDoor. If the person has an accent or is any shade of brown, no problem, they probably had it coming. It’s really sick.

I'm not even going to call CECOT a gulag. In principle, you could leave the gulag alive. CECOT is a death camp.

Trump just admitted he’s not the strongest leader in the world. Can’t even convince the head of a small country to release a US citizen. Not much of a negotiator either.

This needs to be our last stand. There need to be national protests. Democratic leaders need to continue to send delegations to El Salvador. This is our last stand. If they can disappear people without due process into concentration camps in other countries, then they can do it to all of us and there is no freedom or due process anymore.

Thanks JVL. I appreciate every mention of this. The administration trying to play cutsie and claim whoops - too late - can’t do it, is as outrageous as it is completely unbelievable. I have called my senators and representative. I have also contacted some of the new outlets that I read and watch - if I saw this story at the top of the feed, I THANKED THEM. If I did not, I let them know I was disappointed and that this story matters to me. I would love to see this story reported from any and all angles.

Late to this, but once again, JVL is right. At every level. Moral and political. This is the real fight that must be waged without delay.

I read something about state AGs indicting the participants on kidnapping and trafficking charges. That would be a good start.

Kudos to Murphy and Van Hollen, I hope they are successful. However, El Salvador IS a 3rd World Country. You know the one's that a certain someone used to call "Shitholes." That being said I was shocked that he was even talking with anyone from there and then telling him what to say.

I think Francis should start excommunicating people. Vance and other heretical Catholics in the US. Any Salvadoran who’s remotely connected to this. John Paul II was key to the Cold War. The Church needs to do something here.

Don't get too invested in Harvard looking strong. They said no to a proposal that was so draconian they could not agree to it (the consequences of accepting it would actually be worse). But they have also made clear they are open to cutting a deal.

Another great book that should be required reading for all of us is Blueprint For Revolution by Srdja Popovich recounting the lessons learned during the toppling of the Milosevic regime (whose rise has substantial similarities to the kleptocratic and anti-bureaucractic ideologies of Trumpism.
