On this week’s episode, I’m joined by Ray Mendoza, who cowrote and codirected the new A24 movie Warfare with Alex Garland (Civil War, Ex Machina). We discussed the journalistic process of rebuilding the day’s actions portrayed in the film from the memory of those who participated, Mendoza’s work with Garland on Civil War, and the cinematic experience of trying to help people understand what it’s like to go into battle after getting your brain rattled. The movie releases on April 11, and I strongly recommend watching it in a theater to get that fully immersive sonic effect. And if you enjoyed this episode, I hope you share it with a friend.

This is a fantastic and deeply interesting conversation. I’m looking forward to seeing this film.
Seeing it Thursday, knowing how difficult it will be to watch. But so much talent involved and authenticity to the story.
I will probably see this film in theaters, but I am terrified of how badly it's gonna trigger me as a combat vet from the same time period/place.
Important message by Mendoza that applies to NOW: "I wanted to show how deep, when trying to function in a concussive state, what it takes to come back from that. And it takes a lot of teamwork... But...you have extended periods where people are out of it..."
What's happening now? We feel dazed--- Why? Our own IED blasts,--Our national sales tax (steep tariffs) imposed without a vote, going after so many former allies, yet coddling the Russians. Usually countries do not go into recession all at the same time. What if they do? A global DEPRESSION? Usually it's not global, so there is teamwork--the ones staying okay help bring up the ones not okay, Yet, it's teamwork that can't happen if EVERYBODY is brought to their knees by "the whims of one"?
