Biden part 2 - retire NOW. The sooner Dems move on, the better for the country.

We need new younger leaders. His time has passed. These old people are holding us hostage bc of their narcissism.

It amazes me, still, that the Democratic Party is now the party of decrepit gerontocracy. As a middle aged person, I grew up in an era where the GOP had the oldest president ever, and the GOP was seen as the elderly party.

The GOP is now chock-a-block full of GenX, Millenials and they're reaching out to GenZ. Meanwhile the Dems are still full of Boomers trying to protest like it's the 1960's.

Or the fact that SchumerтАЩs biggest constituents are AIPAC and Wall Street; both big supporters of TrumpтАЩs agenda; not democracy, or the people.

I've wondered if Schumer's actions are colored by the fact that he has to move in Manhattan circles dominated by finance types who are inclined to Republicans, even with Trump. For example, he went to the Catholic Charities event where Trump also attended, right?

Hard to explain but I feel more angry at Schumer than Biden. I haven't been this angry at a Democrat in years, decades, maybe ever? Schumer needs to go. I'm prepared to contribute money and effort to make that happen.

I'm not some left-wing progressive "wacko" (in quotes, because I am sympathetic to their arguments). I'm kinda in the middle, perhaps even on the right-side of the party.

I told my (D) senators that I will not donate to their election campaigns as long as Schumer is Minority Leader. Will that help Repubs win my state? Maybe. But then, how is that worse than having Democratic cowards in the senate? At least with Republican senators, my state will have some input into the Republican budgets and bills.

We needed a fighter at this moment in history, but we got a coward. Schumer thinks that the courts will save us but they won't. Trump will ignore the courts, and the courts cannot force Trump to obey. Trump has already started ignoring the courts in the immigration cases. Schumer has accelerated our descent into fascism.

Schumer needs to go.

I agree, and I say that as a senior myself. It is past time for younger, more energetic folks with new ideas and a fighting spirit to take the reins. I have felt that way for some time. As a general rule, Senators should not serve past their sell-by dates; there are probably a few exceptions.

I like Klobuchar and Murphy. HeтАЩs older, but Sheldon Whitehouse is a fighter and a smart guy. IтАЩm sure that there are other viable candidates.

Not to mention that these old guard democrats can retire multimillionaires, far different from when they came into office. Nothing is for nothing. Markers are called in.

His age isnтАЩt the problem. Many younger elected reps are afraid to take a stand against Trump. Schumer let his knowledge of strategy overpower his knowledge of people. We needed for him to lead a stand against Trump and THIS VOTE was the only leverage we had! No one outside Trump, Musk, and Johnson wanted a shutdown! But, if Schumer and his sheep had stood with the rest who voted against the budget bill, the Republicans would have been forced to listen, to find some compromises that would protect a few vulnerable government functions and people.

Some of us old people want him to step down. I'll remind you that the felon is where he is because young white men in general voted for the felon. A large percentage of Americans didn't even bother at all. Some voted thinking they wouldn't be targeted because this was about others, not them until it was!

He doesn't have to retire from the Senate, just as Democratic Leader. There would be a very messy primary for a Special Election that AOC could easily win, which would give the seat to a Republican.

Well, since AOC is a Representative and Schumer is a Senator, AOC could not in fact take over as minority leader in the Senate. And if Chuck isn't up for re-election until 2028, we have a few years before she could primary him, even if she wanted to. I like AOC, but there are others who should consider/be considered to try to oust someone like Chuck Schumer from his Senate seat. And we still have to find the right (younger) person to lead the Dems in the senate if Chuck really isn't up for the task.

You and Charles might be saying the same thing. Schumer to step aside as Minority Leader, and stay in the Senate. And go on his book tour.
