I say this as someone who pushed back so hard on the "Biden is too old" thing for years, and I never thought he was too old until Thursday night. But now I do. It wasn't "one bad night", it was the worst possible night at the worst possible moment. It wasn't "a bad debate", there has never been a worse debate performance by any other candidate since we've started showing them on TV. I've never voted Republican in my life, not even for a moderate. But if he was running against anyone but a coup plotter he would've lost my vote Thursday night. We all saw what we saw, and that was a person who CANNOT be doing this job in 4 years.

The Titanic had one bad night too but they don't sail on that anymore, do they?

I had a similar conversation with my wife right after the debate. I said that if Biden were running against Ted Cruz, I would be obliged to vote for Ted Cruz. Just typing they feels so gross, I have go disinfect my phone.

Great line about the Titanic!

Yet the next day -and today-he was back on his game. He’s terrible at debates. It just is. So don’t do them!

You are pretty much describing my life. I honestly was thinking for a while that they might have to stop the debate, it was such a debacle and I really thought Biden might collapse.

The video clip of Jill helping him off the stage at the end will be run on a constant loop in swing state ads (but they will probably hold these until after the convention, because the last thing they want is to have to pivot their own campaign to running against someone who is NOT one of the two candidates that the majority of American voters have said they don't want to see on the ballot for 2+ years now).

And Jill telling him, "you did great, you answered all the questions and you knew all the facts!" Sounds like a kindergarten teacher congratulating a 5 year old.

What will also run on a continuous loop in swing state Republican ads is Joe Biden, looking confused & saying "And we finally beat Medicare."

I'm thinking of the two Hindenburg disasters of the 30s, one a Weimar president, one an airship.
