The Starlink issue is alarming. Even if it works as advertised -- which I find hard to believe because it was not originally designed to be an air traffic control system -- who else runs it besides Musk? The man won't live forever. 'Verizon' is a company, not one person running everything. Besides, could Musk possibly try to use this new system to harm people he considers his enemies? He does not seem stable to me.

Most American's will shrug at the Starlink grift. It's just not something they're going to rally behind.

Yeah, they don't recognize influence peddling, unless it's Hunter Biden.

Yep, those drive-by handwaves from Joe Biden sure made an impact on Hunter-boy’s art sales.Meanwhile the DOGGIE Dodge boys keep cranking out the Benjamins for ol’ Elon. I used to question whether his reputation for being an actual genius (as opposed to the ‘very stable’ sort we became familiar with during Trump 1.0) was mostly hype.

By getting hisself installed as El Trumpo’s consigliere he has definitely proven to be a veritable Einstein of grift. His troop of Merry Musketeers have now infiltrated every nook and cranny of government possessed of a computer hook-up and is engaging in AI-enabled slicing and dicing of their operations, especially those big, beautiful government contracts: space shots, Starlink services, plus dumping legions of civil servants into the unemployment lines.

Declaring them redundant — oops, I meant to say “not a good fit” — he has thoughtfully proposed to have the really essential functions of government taken over by AI, to whit, something called “Grok”, which we understand is prone to “hallucinations” which is to say, making up nonsense when it doesn’t know th right answer.

Whatever your thoughts about AI, you’ve got to admit that hallucinating is its most human-like feature, as this administration is determined to remind us at every opportunity.

Yeah, you'd be hard pressed to find people rallying to save Verizon contracts. Verizon is reaping what they sowed here with decades of treating customers badly.

If anything people will think, "Screw Verizon, they cancelled my Perks Plan and stopped crediting me $10 for automatic payments."

Most likely he would use it as an extortion tool to bend the aviation industry to his will. I don't think it would bother him in the slightest to crash a couple of airliners and kill several hundred people just to prove he is serious.

Our government has paid Musk’s companies more than $30 billion of our taxes. He reinvested a mere 8% of that to buy his position as Rasputin to the Trump administration. How many people look at the Federal withholding on their pay stub and think, “great, I just gave Lex Luthor $5?”

He did make the NTSB use only Twitter to provide updates on that crash between the plane and the helicopter.

Absolutely! He wants another billion+ contract from the gov't.? He can turn of ATC communications to force the gov't's hand.
