Look at the stunned, confused, disapproving faces of the most powerful people in our country as a Christian bishop asks them to show mercy to the most vulnerable. We need look no further to know every damning thing about them.

I kept watching the people sitting near him looking to see Trump’s reaction. Tiffany was right in the line of sight. They are all so eager to reinforce his hatefulness.
I wonder if she feels shame? She didn't respond much to him other than a slight nod. Do you think she agrees with half of the BS her husband spews? I wonder.....
Uncle Screwtape can't wait for these people to arrive in "Our Father Below's" house.
"Once you have made the World an end, and faith a means, you have almost won your man, and it makes very little difference what kind of worldly end he is pursuing. Provided that meetings, pamphlets, policies, movements, causes, and crusades, matter more to him than prayers and sacraments and charity, he is ours – and the more ‘religious’ (on those terms) the more securely ours. I could show you a pretty cageful down here."
Yeah, that quote is from the end of Letter 7. Tom Nichols turned me onto it, and whenever I see these right wing Christians and their faux piety, I think of Screwtape.
John Taylor, the Bishop of the LA Episcopal Diocese, is right there with Budde. He's been posting some great pieces on FB. Sunday's was excellent, as is today's. And before he became a priest he ran the Nixon library, and his wife worked for Nixon when he was writing his books. He'll be an important voice. The interfaith community needs to lock arms like the 60s and 70s.
I always thought there should have been way more of this type of stuff from the Dems/anti-trumpers leading up to the elections because Trump and his people do stupid things when they are caught off guard and try to save face.

#47's posture looks the way I would expect to see him if I suddenly opened the bathroom door while he was on the toilet.
Oh dude. That's gonna be a tough image to erase.
😏
He was bored. He was not leading the service, so how could he not be?
It was probably the 8 or 9th time in a church service counting weddings and funerals.
But probably only the second one (2017) where he only got to listen.

Except Usha. She kept telling JD to shut up or he wasn’t going to get a donut after church.
There was also a moment when Vance looked at his wife. I would love to know his thoughts at that moment

I wonder. I think she’s ambitious but I wonder if she worries that she sold out her family of immigrants…
I took a photo of that moment and zoomed in. It looked like he was looking at her, rolling his eyes.

Love the CS Lewis reference!
Is this from The Screwtape Letters? It's a great quote!

Yup. trump *hated* that his bubble was pierced.
She was the hero we didn't know we needed.

He'll start sticking with SBC or people like Cardinal Dolan for his churchy photo ops.
And she was a she. How dare she?
I'm sure you're right and that's a big part of it
When tRUMP gets triggered so easily by women, it becomes almost irresistible to taunt him. It really does.

Obviously she only got that job because she's a woman. Bishop is a male title🤬
