The real Party orgs are the worst. DSCC, DCCC, DNC have all sent obnoxious emails like these, over Pelosi’s signature and others. Quadruple match! Urgent deadline! It’s embarrassing.

They have to stop sharing lists. Act Blue needs an opt in button for share my contact information with other candidates. The default must be DO NOT SHARE. I’ve unsubscribed. I got the David Hogg text yesterday and my reaction was, I resent you for making me unsubscribe yet again. That’s not what he’s going for, I’m sure.

I won't give again until this is cleaned up.

Just stop. Just stop all the emails, now! (Or I'll never donate another dime.)

It's not @actblue it is the 1000s of campaigns that happen to use it to raise money. Actblue doesn't write and send emails and texts.

No, but I only donated to the Harris campaign at first right after she got in, then started getting messages from a bunch of other people so they evidently share their donor database with whoever wants it.

But ActBlue is clearly making emails and telephone numbers from donors to any campaign available to ALL those other campaigns, so they do bear responsibility.

No data to prove that accusation

Yes there is proof. I donated to **only** the Harris campaign via Act Blue, then start getting dozens of emails and texts from candidates I'd never even heard of. They share their donor list because there is no other way those other candidates could have gotten my email address or phone number because I had just switched from Gmail to a new email service.

What do you mean? Donate to one entity through ActBlue and you get loads of emails from all sorts of other entities solicitating donations to them through ActBlue. How the did all those other entities get your email?

Exactly. The only entity I gave my contact information to was ActBlue. Ergo, ActBlue HAD to have passed it on (even if it was just to the campaign I donated to, who then passed it on to others).

“But for far too long, ActBlue has largely looked the other way while spammers and scammers sell donors’ contact information and use deceptive tactics to solicit donations. That needs to change.”

Tell about it. I was averaging over 25 of these emails a day from all the Senate candidates and 40 or so House districts and other Pacs and Super Pacs. Now my email time is spent getting rid of all the scammers who must have gotten that address from ActBlue.

Hear hear. I am still getting text messages from dem fundraising groups - got one yesterday from David Hogg (school shooting survivor and now activist) running for DNC Vice Chair. Stop the spam!

Only one? I got THREE on Sunday, and two more yesterday. And those after marking the others as spam. It's disgusting.

GOOD!!!! ActBlue is out of control. And it's not just the scam PACs that are a problem, it's the incessant spam. Just because I donate to one Democratic nominee doesn't mean I wish to donate to every Democratic candidate in every race in the nation. Knowing that if I donate I'll face a deluge of spam (both emails and texts) from a bazillion other candidates actively discourages me from donating at all. It's just too much.

Exactly!! I ended up unsubscribing from everything the last month of the presidential race and blocking text messages because I got so many fundraising emails every day, most of them for candidates I'd never heard of. And i was getting multiple emails every day from the Harris campaign or related PACs, it was way too much and really annoyed me.
