🇺🇸 It’s our country. It’s worth fighting for.

I am very concerned about many of Trump’s Cabinet nomination. I am writing and calling Republican Senators to oppose them. I have also contacted them to oppose Recess Appointments. You all need to do the same.

I’ve been contacting my two Kentucky Senators: McConnell and Paul. I’ve been contacting Senator John Thune, the new Republican Majority Leader. I’ve also been writing to the two Moderate Republicans that have generally been protective of women’s reproductive rights and been open to opposing Trump when they see fit. They are Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine.

As a former Moderate Republican of 48 years, they have more respect from me than the majority of Elected Republicans. They also both voted against Betsy DeVos as Education Secretary in 2017, forcing VP Pence to cast a tie breaking vote to get her approved.

Please join me in contacting Republican Senators. Your contact as a constituent means more than those I write as a non-constituent! Please join me in fighting for our future. You can find all the contact information needed at Senate.gov.

So far I have written and called to oppose the following:

Nominee Office

Chris Wright Energy

RFK Jr. HHS

Tulsi Gabbard Dir National Intelligence

Tim Hegseth Defense

Matt Gaetz Attorney General

Please do this as soon as possible. While I would like to see hearings on these and all nominees, I would rather see them withdrawn. I strongly believe we can accomplish this if the Senators are flooded with contacts. Also, please get your Registered Republican and Independent family and friends to do the same. And ask them to include the fact of how they are registered in their contacts.

Thank you so much.

POTUS needs to preemptively pardon anyone who took action or spoke against Trump and he can pardon Hunter while he’s at it.

He doesn’t owe anybody anything at this point. And Trump forgets that even if Gaetz were the AG, grand juries will be a big problem for him. Just take a look at the attempted prosecution of Andrew McCabe for pissing off Trump.

They don’t indict ham sandwiches, Alito.

Pedophiles everywhere in MAGAT world...if this a**clown gets confirmed the country is totally over..

I see Susan Collins is "concerned" again. So put her down as a yes.

So Trump chose Gaetz over more qualified attorneys because the others "looked at AG as if they were applying for a judicial appointment. They talked about their vaunted legal theories and constitutional bullshit. Gaetz was the only one who said, ‘Yeah, I’ll go over there and start cuttin’ fuckin’ heads.’” First, Isn't the attorney general position a judicial appointment? Secondly, Trump's advisor disdaining "constitutional bullshit" as opposed to "cuttin' fuckin’ heads" tells you everything you need to know about both Trump and Gaetz and their regard (none) for the rule of law.

What happened to Gaetz running for governor of Florida?

Just heard. The STUPID Orange Snake wants RFK Jr as the Health secretary! I don't know who's crazier - the Snake or or any MAGA Senator who would ever vote for him!

There was this interesting opinion piece in the Atlantic, suggesting that Biden should issue full pardons to those whom have vocally criticized or opposed Trump in the past : https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2024/11/presidential-pardon-trump-critics/680627/

I am kind of on the fence about it. On the one hand, I do agree that Biden would be doing a service by short circuiting Trump's revenge tour, although it would only be retrospective and wouldn't stop someone like Gaetz from ginning up an investigation into allegedly ongoing or future conduct. But I am worried that a pardon-granting frenzy would further erode public confidence and undercut political norms. At the very least, half of the country would see it as proof of a conspiracy: who needs a pardon, if they haven't done anything wrong... yadda yadda yadda.

blanket pardon of any current employee of DOJ, investigative committee, anyone that testified in Jan 6 hearing etc

can happen, you don't need names attached --- Jimmy Carter gave amnesty to those who left the country so not to get drafted

interesting concept - i figured Biden could balance anger (meaning piss off everyone) by providing pardons to some Trump charges while also pardoning every DACA/Dreamer to prevent them from being deported. Win/Win??

If you don't like the clown, you will not like the clown show.

Sadly, this was completely expected. Trump's only standard for appointment is loyalty to Trump. The clown parade will continue. Oh, and the Republican Senators that are "concerned" about these appointments? They will confirm and do as they are told. We know this, too.

Trump voters are gonna get what they asked for and they deserve every bit of it.

Have you woken up yet? - you’re talking like the rules of old still apply. This isn’t political debate, this isn’t a hard right gig, this is a clear sign the rule of law doesn’t apply - the rule of the jungle does, and there’s only one king. Stop playing nice and expecting the long game to play out nicely. They are out to destroy you and salt the memory of the past. This is a time for resistance, preparation and going underground. Forget legality as they already have - and stop the we can’t be as bad as them Schtick - they don’t care and no one else will when you’re in the gulag or dead. Time to grow up.

Welcome to America 🇺🇸

Now the urgency for recess appointments becomes crystal clear. I imagine that it's Susie Wiles's job to tell the possibles that recess appointments only last until the end of the Congress during which they occur, and that the appointees don't get paid. That would be fun to watch.

“Holy fucking shit,” one government lawyer wrote The Bulwark. “And, what the fuck!”

That's what I said about Trump winning the popular vote.

I still say it every day.

Oath Keeper Stewart Rhodes graduated from Yale Law School. If Gaetz doesn’t work out Trump can just pardon Rhodes and voilà! AG.

I’d like to be AG, and my chances are better than Matt Gaetz’. I’m just a retired lawyer in OH (and a Democrat) but I don’t sleep with minors or have Botox.

But how good are you at making libs cry and kissing Rump’s backside? Those are the two main qualifications.

Expand full comment

I am also a lawyer... I never thought I was qualified to be AG but I never would have suspected that the reason why would be my lack of botox or failure to sleep with minors. Guess I am more unqualified than I thought.

Yet still more qualified than Matty, by a mile.

I am also a lawyer and I HAVE had Botox so I feel pretty qualified over here. The sleeping with minors thing I don't have, though. I guess someone else is more qualified if they have that on their resume. And as I think on it, I have never had as much Botox as Matt Gaetz - I still have movement in my face....so...I guess I am out as AG, too.

No one other than the Housewives has had as much Botox as Matt Gaetz.

Wait, fpotus has interviews for his possible picks in his administration? I thought he had a dartboard packed with his rougher sycophants' photos, and just tagged them that way. Or perused stories to see which ones had the most scurrilous reviews from his "enemies of the people" press. Seriously, I can't be, at this point. It's like a M*A*S*H maga wet dream. Only not remotely funny.
