You’ve got to love the continued naïveté / lack of lessons learned by the media.

The “third term” stuff wasn’t even on the landing page of the nyt. It made #5 on this morning’s Axios with the noted “reality check” about the legal and procedural reasons it’s “highly improbable.”

Just as highly improbable it was that a moron coming down an escalator would demolish the establishment and (insert the other 4,294 things over the last ten years). It is demoralizing how little we’ve learned and how unequipped we are at this moment.

"We can't call a spade a spade! They'll call us biased!" - legacy media publications, which will be called radical leftist rags anyway

I question the sanity of anyone still subscribing and giving money to these.

We should direct our ire at the GOP, not the media. John Thune, GOP Senate Majority Leader, when asked about it today: “You guys keep asking the question and I think he’s probably having some fun with it, probably messing with you."

Trump is just having some fun!

Thune's DC office number is 202-224-2321. Give your GOP representative a call too.

Good point, though I’d say there’s room for both.

Yeah, these were the same senators saying in Nov/Dec 2020 to just let Trump let off some steam. “What’s the harm?”

every single republican should be asked at every interview if they think trump can have a third term.

Everyone still keeps pretending that JD Vance is going to run for president in 2028. It ain't happening, no one else is running for the GOP as long as Trump is still alive.

I would love to be in the room when it is confirmed that he’s replaced by Don jr. On some level, he has to know and I guess his only hope is Trump to die in office.

And when Trump is 80+ years old in 2028, instead of a parade of articles

such as we got about Biden's frailty and unfitness, will we get articles extolling Dear Leader's incredible vigor?

Have you heard him speak lately? It's like he can't remember words, and so just uses another word that makes no sense. His abilities are fading fast.

We will in right wing media certainly

Are you telling me that we can't replace one ignorant, incompetent racist with another ignorant, incompetent racist is 2028?

Mark P's avatar

Nope, the current one will assume the presidency for life. Luckily for JD he's a young guy, he can afford to be patient.

This assumes some other strongman doesn't toss JD out a convenient window.

The problem with JD is he's less likeable the more people learn about him, he probably won't be popular enough to win anything on his own. His ideal scenario would be Trump meeting his maker before 2028.

I agree. As horrible as Trump is there are enough people who like the oily used car salesmanship of Trump. And he played a smart businessman on TV. Vance is smarter, but sooo creepy.

What probably will happen is Musk will takeover as President since our laws mean nothing. The Latinos and Black men who voted for Trump will be shocked when all the White South Africans (open immigration to them) get here and Musk institutes apartheid. Don't say we didn't warn you.

I was thinking the opposite. Trump thinks he's tight with Musk and Thiel, but they *can't* have any respect for him. On the other hand, Vance was handpicked to have that presidenty look.

But Vance has turned out to be uniquely unlikeable. I think as his star is falling straight down, his function now is more one of insurance. Trump seems to disdain Vance as much as the rest of us. The harder Vance tries to be mini-me, the worse he comes off.

Maybe they can send him to one-on-one charm school with someone like Paul Manafort, like Putin did with Yanukovych.

Vance doesn't have the MAGA mob behind him, they only love Trump.

He’s got the online right wing audience firmly behind him. I am in a relative bubble, so I don’t say this with judgment. But talk to someone who might look reasonable and quickly reveals himself as a Christian nationalist. I’m talking about the polite dad who coaches soccer, college educated, $400k-$800k, doesn’t drive a pick up truck.

That guy “really doesn’t like” Trump, but of course HAD TO vote for him (three times). He will vote for him a fourth time, without a doubt, but he also loves Vance, Tucker and musk.

That's true. However, Trump was created by a storm of disinformation and if Musk and company have a side deal with Putin and/or Xi, another storm could be arranged.
