тАЬNot Going BackтАЭ has to be the slogan. IтАЩd like to see the VP hammer home тАЬdo you really want the dystopia he has planned for us?тАЭ And for the audience to respond тАЬNOT. GOING. BACK!!!тАЭ
I might just say, тАЬDo you really want what he has planned for us?тАЭ Leave the object purposely vague. Then the audience can chant тАЬNO! NOT. GOING. BACK!тАЭ
Honestly, I am 65, have run my own business for 35 years doing what I always wanted to do. I love that message, but I am more pleased about the positive vibes. From the very beginning when Trump rode down the escalator, he insisted on making America great "again". Well, my America has, pretty much, always been great. Harris has actually said something similar at her rallies.
Ann, with all due respect for the hypothetical audience, I would prefer a more "normal" word than "dystopia". Despite Bill's aversion, "weird" would probably do the trick, although we should be open to other descriptions. "Gilead" might do.
I understand the impulse to use a simpler word. I have no aversion myself to тАЬweirdтАЭ in other contexts but IтАЩm not sure it quite captures just how unpleasant this world Trump is conjuring would be.
I donтАЩt think тАЬGileadтАЭ works for anyone who isnтАЩt familiar with The HandmaidтАЩs Tale. Plus it really only has resonance with women and their reproductive freedoms, and TrumpтАЩs awful vision reaches into so many other areas of life - rounding up Latinos, whether documented or not, yuge price increases with his tariffs, union-busting on a massive scale, just to name a couple off the top of my head.
But IтАЩm sure the pros in the VPтАЩs comms team can come up with some words!
Fine, but my ancient Roget's Thesaurus has no synonyms and the only thing I can find is that a dystopian world is an anti-utopia. That is not very helpful in finding my "other" word. Hopefully you are right to rely on the "pros".
I'm liking "Not Going Back" for a slogan. Not to pre-Roe, not to Jim Crow, not to Tammany Hall. not to monarchy, not to theocracy... .
Not back into the closet, either....

She's already used it. It struck me it could be be smashing bumper sticker.
That bumper sticker is out there.
Good. I imagine it particularly resonates with women.

That's what I yell everytime I pass trump signs on my rural GA commute to work.
So do the signs include Vance? None of the new ones in SW MO, even at the local R headquarters, include Vance.
No, actually, now that you mention it. Just the felon's name and 2024. HAH! Vance turned out to be SUCH a bad pick!
