Charlie – As a lifelong democrat raised in a family of lifelong democrats, I cannot imagine our paths would have ever crossed if it weren’t for you becoming a Never-Trumper, from the very beginning. There have been a few Republican heroes emerge at critical times during these past 8 years, and you are one of the very best of the best! Consistent, insightful and passionate, with a strong moral and political compass, you have not only shed light but also a sense of purpose, hope, and community. I have learned so much from you.
I’m certain the cost has been immense to you personally and professionally, but you’ve never wavered.
You've changed my perspective - not always an easy thing to do at my age!
I simply want to say Thank You. I will sorely miss Morning Shots, but I’m hoping that our loss will, indeed, become Eli’s gain! I’m looking forward to the contributions you will continue to make here at the Bulwark and elsewhere.
Agree 💯, I'd love to sit with Mr. Sykes and debate policies with him. Although I doubt we'd agree on many things it'd be an enriching and enjoyable conversation. If only we can get back to the Before Times. Enjoy your downtime and continue to provide your wisdom whenever you desire. Take care!
Charlie - your podcasts have literally steered me to the road of sanity and thoughtful discussion. Trump and his supporters were, literally, killing me. I could not understand why people supported this lying, cheating, mortally bankrupt person for the highest office in the land - the one whom we encourage our children to emulate...and then try to protect our children from his horrific influence so our children do NOT grow up to be like him (But his policies!).
I will miss you terribly for your sane voice through all of this bs. But I understand, and respect, your decision to step away. For me, that decision I made for myself changed my life. I now maintain a policy to step away from news and podcasts for a week or more at a time. Just to keep my brain cells sharp. So do what you need to do for you. You have wallowed neck-deep in the quagmire for more than five years. And ithank you for everything you have given us, your listeners and your colleagues. I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
MoosesMom-- I was about to writing something similar-- but you beat me to it, and did it better than I could have. Charlie, thank you so much for your service- and I'm glad you'll still be on MSNBC and writing occasionally.

I agree 100% with this post. Thanks for putting your (my) feelings so well, MoosesMom. ZivasMom completely agrees with you.
My feelings exactly but written better I could have. My husband and I will miss your daily writings. You have a great way with words. Our best to you
Lifelong Dem raised by Dems here too. Agree with everything you've said.
BTW, Sarah refers to our chunk of Bulwark subscribers as high-information Dems. I like that!
Can you believe that the majority of Boomers have voted for trump in the past? UGH! What happened?
Didn't know that. They must have not gone to college. Less than 30% of boomers hold a degree.
You said everything exactly as I feel. Beautiful

I'm hoping for a few guest appearances on Bulwark pods.
He also has created avenues for his readers to interact and that's one I've appreciated with your insightful posts as well. Pretty valuable stuff.
Yep!
Ditto!!
face pressed up against the firehouse
TYPO: should be firehose
I think he did mean firehouse. I picture responding to frequent fires, chaos, and emergencies including occasional heart attacks. That’s the GOP.
Typos just leap off the page for me. Adam Kinzinger really needs my help with his Substack!
Spent 15 years as a proofreader. You never lose the habit.
That sounds like an awesome job. Late in life, I discovered skills I never recognized I had. Oh well, better late than never!
