I think it is funny that Mountain Dew is considered rural southern drink (I'd peg Cheerwine for that honor). I mean it has already gone woke.

Totally LGBTQ+! Look at that rainbow. I look forward to the Tik Toks of Republicans shooting at their unopened Mountain Dew cans.

I know it's late Andrew and well after the fact, but i had a trump supporter tell me the post about Joe returning was all made up and not real. I've been told they removed the post from truth but i suspect someone has a screen shot of the original. Anyone care to share it or at least verify they saw it.

Thanks Amanda, you rock.

De nada. Sometime the Bulwark commentariat should have a conversation on how to have a conversation with Trump supporters. I've been in some 😵‍💫s recently.

I ask this with respect, why would anyone want to talk to a Trump supporter?

Sounds just like a Trump supporter to say anything that puts Trump in a bad light has to be fake.

trump is not campaigning because he does not have to. he told a group we do not need your votes but asked for the christian vote because trump is "christian."

Trump is going to yell "voter fraud" again and the MAGA moles at the local, state and federal level will not certify the election. The election will go to the MAGA supreme court, they will make something up and declare trump the winner.

Great article- very "joyful" !

Was thinking something along the same lines. A white man, emblematic of our past, in the second spot, standing behind and fully supporting a mixed race woman. This, I devoutly hope, is our future.

Some other good news, I think, here locally. I'm in Johnson County, Kansas, which is the biggest county in Kansas and affluent Kansas City suburbs. Historically, we've been very red but trending blue in recent cycles thanks to Trump, etc.

Our primary yesterday was relatively light, and turnout was lower than 2 years ago (that's when the abortion ballot initiative occured). The biggest GOP race I was concerned with was for County Sheriff where we have a VERY MAGA incumbent who's been spending much time and resources on election denial/fraud-chasing. He got clobbered by over 12% yesterday and ousted. This in a low turnout election with not a lot of reason for "normies" like me to participate beyond maybe this one race. And that hardcore base that turned out still booted him handily. The only other real race with a "moderate" challenging an incumbent was a for District Attorney, and the incumbent won by 19%. So there was a large segment of the primary base that was still fairly conservative but said "enough" to the main election denier fool. So maybe some hope?????

I'm with Sarah -- Sarah is always right! Shapiro would have given me a comfort level that I could vote for Kamala. Now I'm not sure, I'll probably probably go back to writing in Liz Cheney.

That’s just silly and Sarah is often wrong.

I hope you reconsider, Linda - if you're in a swing state. I'm a center-right guy who is willing to give them a pass until the GOP pulls back from the far-right brink.

Really great of you gentlemen to make a subtle point today. A functioning party separates themselves from Rep Bush in MO. A cult doubles down on a seditionist in Washington state. Another gang in AZ last week jettisoned any candidate that failed to subscribe to election result denialism. None of these results are in the least bit surprising.

Gotta say, Sarah's pod last night caused me more anxiety, I call it the 'Bulwark Blues.' I'm taking nothing for granted, writing postcards every week, donating, and going to start phonebanking. So, I'm not getting lost in vibes, and I don't think anyone should be. But the negativity to me is completely UNHELPFUL.

I think Sarah has set herself a super tough task and it has to weigh on her. She works with voters who look at the last 8 years and still think “I dunno, maybe we need more Trump”.

I could never do it. I’d run from the room screaming “You morons!” at the top of my lungs.

I do hope she does get “Walz pilled” at some point because she deserves the happy vibes after all her hard work.

I think she’s just a conservative who thinks she is right about everything but I could be wrong.

Well said and yes I have NO idea how she does it!!!

Everyone is mentioning Vance shadowing Kamala's appearances and trying to figure out the reason. To me, it has an eerie reflection of Trump shadowing Clinton to try and intimidate her during one of their debates. Kinda creepy and "weird" - for real.

Wait! I thought JD Vance told us that Democrats think drinking Diet Mountain Dew is racist!!! Is Tim Walz a closet racist? Is he signaling to MAGA that he's actually one of them and is going to shiv Kamabla at the inauguration, take over and bring about the Christian Nationalist authoritarian paradise we all actually crave?

I'm just asking questions...
