Christie is absolutely telling the truth. Problem is, the people who need to hear what he is saying will jam their fingers into their ears and yell la-la-la-la-la.

The PGA deal is outrageous. I am beyond disgusted.

I read the blog post they linked on the PGA thing. I donтАЩt think there are any good guys in that. We donтАЩt need a refresher on the Saudis, but the PGA is run by all the most literal caricatures of the good olтАЩ boy exclusionary country club stereotype that clearly were trying to protect тАЬthe clubтАЭ from Other People to a significant degree. It never was about anything to do with ethics, purely about control.

Sounds like the PGA needs a Kaepernick diversion. Maybe Kaepernick can take up golf and bend a knee during the National Anthem. The PGA and its grotesque players would automatically be off the hook.....:)

The optics of the PGA relegating their players of color to a different division would be... slightly problematic.

It was always a fun moment when the school-yard bullies turned on each other. Christie's truth telling will enrage TFG who can't stay cool when the heat is up. I'm popping some corn.

I'm with you. All revved up to watch this Thunderdome death cage match. Should be entertaining.

About the PGA - Just goes to show we all have a price. (Or so it appears)

It's not the MAGAs we're hoping he hits, it's the Trump-skeptical, if nothing else to discourage them from voting for him in the general.

Every point counts.

Very true, but unless he gets big $$, he wonтАЩt be able to outpace the Trump noise machine. Trump finally did something smart and hired some very seasoned campaign staff for a change.

I hope that you are right and I am wrong. I would love to see Trump lose the primary.

Christie reinforces the permission structure that some (many?) Rs need to break with the candidate du jour. His voice matters, whether he gets the nomination or not.

We're also assuming he won't cave again and join up with Trump the second it's clear his access to power depends on his cooperation.

I don't think that will happen. trump's carelessness with covid put Christie in the hospital and nearly killed him. I think it's personal now for the former NJ gov.

Expand full comment

Won't happen. No one should think for a second that Christie would join up with TFG again, nor that TFG, who eats loyalty more than anything else (except cheeseburgers), would give him a second chance, any more than he would RD or Nikki.

TFG loves submission, not loyalty. And he loves nothing more than those who were previously his harshest critics groveling at his feet for mercy.

Expand full comment

Can you really see Christie doing that regardless of the outcome of his Don Quixote imitation? And, mere groveling does not mean forgiveness, just pity and being kicked to the curb as useless.

Expand full comment

I'm not sure about that. Trump loves apostates who come crawling back for forgiveness. Witness one MyKevin.

But MyKevin bucked TFG on the debt ceiling, and I have not heard of any praise coming from Mar-a-Loco. Got any other candidates?

Yeah, but how long will actual campaign professionals put up with 45's nonsense? He'll override them constantly, and his willingness to pay professionals is well known.

Great point. I can only imagine what that must be like. ЁЯШ│

This behavior is all known, but they must think the money is worth the mud they will roll in.

Only if Trump pays them up front.

Or Putin or the Saudis pre-pay.

I think it's more likely either: "this time is different" or "it won't happen to me."

ThatтАЩs what each new lawyer says when hired by Trump.

Maybe this fits with the general delusional/alternate world view that the GOP has.
