Is there no recall process? Why is his district not up in arms for being scammed. He needs to go and he needs to go quickly. So many Republican law breakers who just float in the ether above Congress, Senate, Mar Lago and the Supreme Court. We can allow more and more of them coming and none of them going.

Has anyone checked to see if Santos is actually a US citizen?

Should be pretty easy to verify that he is a U.S. citizen..start there.

As for Santos - the GOP should be embarrassed beyond belief that they say this liar. But of course I guess it’s more of the up is down and down is up world we live in now that is to DJT and the MAGA crazies. Sigh.

Hi Joe - I am wondering if you can explain how the motion to vacate the chair will work in this Congress. I have read about it but it’s hard to figure out what is considered a privileged or non-privileged motion.

Am I correct in assuming if the motion is made by a member of the Freedom Caucus the vote must be taken up immediately by the floor? So if all that is present is freedom caucus members McCarthy would be booted?

If there are sufficient members present from other GOP caucuses would it then be a simple majority vote? Similar to the vote for Boehner?

I am sorry if this seems like a silly request but I am hoping others are as confused as I am.

Ty for your consideration.

Welcome aboard. It will be interesting to read your up-close analysis of DC antics.

Welcome to the Bulwark, Joe, glad to have you.

The obvious thing for the Republicans to do is have Santos chair the Ethics Committee. That’ll show the FEC and the Brazilian government and those pansy Dems.

Welcome aboard Joe!

I was really wishing one of the democrats would nominate Santos for Speaker! Given all the time and boredom, and the epic troll opportunity. Would there have been anything stopping them doing it?

With such a slim majority it is highly unlikely that the GOP House Members toss Santos out of Congress as he represents a District that Biden won in 2019. They don’t want a Democratic replacement.

Two Things--

A) Thank you Bulwark for hiring some eye candy (and Joe, you are eye candy),

and

B) Now that Santos is a sitting member of the House, how will that complicate matters if a Brazilian court charges him with a crime and seeks extradition back to Brazil to stand trial? Does Congressional immunity impact criminal activity he may have committed prior to his election & swearing in as a member?

OK, so this is kind of random, but I’ve had it with the Daily Beast. I used to really like the Cheat Sheet as a quick, down-and-dirty review of today’s 10 top stories. I’ve felt like TDB has been increasingly tabloid of late, though. Then yesterday, 3 of the Cheat Sheet’s “top 10 news stories” were about HARRY! I’m done.

Yes, TDB is trashy, but, unlike Mediaite, at least their stories are not RIDDLED with typos and badly constructed sentences (Dan Abrams should be embarrassed he is paying people to edit badly).

Wondering how low the bar for qualified republicans reps can actually go?
