As long as state and local officials do not actively prevent or attempt to prevent federal officials from enforcing federal law in their jurisdictions through force or deception, it's hard to see how the Trump Administration has much it can do against "sanctuary" policies that go no further than non-cooperation without running afoul of the Anti-Commandeering and the Anti-Coercion Principles. I have no doubt that they'll try, and it will be interesting to see how this Supreme Court, which is protective both of Trump and of those Principles, will rule.
