"an embarrassment of riches" to choose from...not the wording I'd use, but I got kicked off X today already so I'm watching my words

Already kicked off if X—badge of honor!

Woke, I tell you! :)

Congratulations!!! You have been effectively "knighted" by Czar Elon. Not everyone can claim that honor. And, by the way, no sarcasm is intended; I do think it is a sign of good fortune. Of course, I never was a user of Twitter or X, so it would not be possible for me.

I was never on X either. Never considered it for one second and never would.

Especially after uncle Elon bought it

Deleted my account the day after the election. Best decision ever. What did they kick you off for? I thought he was all for free speech? <sarcasm>

Expand full comment

I deleted my account as soon as Elon bought it. I, too, would like to know why Gina got kicked.

Expand full comment

I was going to delete my account, but I decided to keep it because maintaining it is an additional cost to Musk. I just have to logon once in a while to keep it from being deleted.

Gina, I was going to say wear it as a badge of honor. But I was beaten to that. So I say that now welcome to being the "vermin", "the enemy within". Wear it loud and proud!

Expand full comment

Yes, indeed—vermin … and proud of it!

Expand full comment

Actually, just an embarrassment, nothing more.

Expand full comment

I don't think I've ever replied to an honest-to-God hero before. Good on you, Gina.

Surely he meant to say, “an embarrassment?”

I quit Twitter before Elmo could fire me.

Sir, please pick just one more GOP house member for your cabinet, please pick Chip Roy. Maybe for OMB director, or dog catcher, whatever.

Expand full comment

Nah, Louis Gohmert and Andy Biggs are my two

Expand full comment

Like Johnson said, an embarrassment of riches. Trump should take all of them, including MTG and Boebert.

Expand full comment

Well, I see he picked Boebert. MTG may be next.

Expand full comment

I did a quick search. She's expressed interest in the Interior Department, but I've not seen reporting that he selected her, yet. She'll screw the tribes over for sure.

I wonder where MTG could go? HUD? Energy? RFK Jr.'s deputy?

"Space lasers" and "Beatle Juice Groper" are popular picks here!

Yes please take Andy Biggs. As an AZ resident he's a disgrace.

No, I think the distinguished AZ delegate should be Paul Gosar, without a doubt.

OK who can we find that Trump really hates to stand up and say "poaching GOP representatives is a terrible idea! it's undemocratic and deplorable and low IQ! I feel shocked and triggered!" Maybe Hillary could say it.

Don't mention dog catcher around Kristie. Here is a suggestion; pick MTG and/or Boebert. That s a nice way to clean house.

No insult. I read about renting these frustration rooms (in Daly Beast yesterday)where you can break glass, throw axes. Seriously, I couldn't believe it! It made for a good laugh! I know a lawyer who took wed off work because he couldn't focus.

Wow! The poor folks who have to clean all of that up. It would be better to volunteer to clean up and improve an area that will give back to the community than to spend lots of money to destroy a room. This must be drug or alcohol fueled rage. I cannot fathom it. Oh well.

Well, it's fitting she's been put in charge of the Cruelty Commission AKA Trump's version of Homeland Security.

I'm having dreams but do not remember them, however, in the mornings since Trump won his first election my jaw hurts from grinding teeth even with the retainer that is there to prevent damage! I must really be chomping down. I cannot remember any of my dreams which is not typical and for a long time. They must be too scarry.

Expand full comment

You have a glaring omission here: Washington state. The newly elected governor there was the most recent state AG, and sued the last Trump administration possibly more than any other state, with a positive record. Ferguson won by a large margin, and I believe Democrats also picked up more state congressional seats. He is very pro human rights and pro union.

Expand full comment

I worked for years with his AAGs, and he was my King County Council Representative back in the day. Ferguson is smart, honest and knows the law.

Someone should interview him on the subject of Governor response. I personally would enjoy learning more about him and his ideas and convictions.

I’m sure he will, once he’s sworn in. He’s a very thoughtful leader.

Gov Hochul of NY also put out a strongly worded statement of defiance. “The safety and wellbeing of New Yorkers are my top priorities,” Governor Hochul said. “I’m committed to working with anyone on policies that make our state stronger, safer and more livable — but my administration will also be prepared to protect New Yorkers’ fundamental freedoms from any potential threats.”

Expand full comment

The New York Dems are about as embarrassing as the Yankees at the World Series this year. Hochul is somewhere between incompetent and corrupt so I wouldn't put her in the Ferguson category. Oh and Eric Addams, the NYC Mayor who is clearly working for a Trump pardon from all his corruption indictments, is her bestie.

Expand full comment

Why would Trump pardon Adams? I wish Adams would just resign, and I don’t know what you are talking about when it comes to Hochul. Sources?

Expand full comment

Well, a quick survey of Hochul issues include that her first Lt Gov candidate was indicted for bribery and Dems from AOC to Pelosi have generally agreed that the Dems lost those key NYC House seats in 2022 because of Hochul. There's plenty more. Politico has a whole New York section, City and State does good NY coverage and we have a local news channel called NY1. Addams has been comparing his charges with Trump's and how its all a conspiracy from the same people, repeatedly aligning himself with Trump.

Expand full comment

And her 1st Lt Gov resigned. What does that have to do with her? Seats flipping in 2022 does not make her corrupt, either. All that means is that in an off year, too many Dems skipped voting. I don’t know what can be done about lazy voters that only vote in Presidential years, if that. What were we supposed to do in the last gubernatorial race? Elect Lee Zeldin? I think we both agree that Adam’s is an idiot and ought to resign.

Expand full comment

An embarrassment of riches? Well, he's half right.

Expand full comment

Yes, please please please Trump take a lot more of the losers out of the house and into your administration!!! go for it!

Expand full comment

It is only one week and the "yes" men are on bended knee cajoling Trump not to do something that he will refuse to listen to like diluting the House seats. This is too funny. Maybe not a tragedy but a gift that he was elected and has the majority and rules the Supreme Court because once people witness neighbors being rounded up and families separated and the effect of aggressive tariffs those who may just need this "experience" to see what is really there will be running to vote for Democrats. However, he will solidify his base of extraordinarily rich people who will be making so much untaxed money it turns my stomach (the excess and greed). And sadly, people from every demographic want to see immigrants hurt.

Well, Mike Johnson got one thing half right. The House does have an embarrassment, alright, but it's of bitches (both of the sons-of variety and of the razor-tongued variant) not riches.

Expand full comment

“We’ve got an embarrassment of riches,” Mike Johnson. Sir yes sir! Put Steven Miller in charge of mass deportations (future hedge: Blame the Jews). AND make Mike Johnson the White Christianity Czar (take that, you subhumans!) Steve Scalise, Department of Honesty. Jim Jordan, Pedophilia Czar (he has eight years experience working alongside an active short-eyes). Unlimited chaos and bigotry!!

Expand full comment

I believe you have your parties mixed up. It is now the Democrats who would blame the Jews. As an outsider I still don’t understand how so many of you are wrong about your country. In the past year there have been Hamas rioters everywhere, setting up tent cities, going into and destroying Universities. Marching down Democratic states. The Democrats lost because they are a party of the fringe now, not the centre. Transgenders are not a national agenda, housing is. The most interesting part of this election was that after everything, Harris lost the Muslim vote and the Latino vote. Doesn’t that make you take a step back and recognize this? Can’t you all see that people are fed up with being spoon fed these issues. Family, health, housing, providing, these are important issues , this is what people vote for.

Expand full comment

I'm sorry but Trump and the GOP made "transgenders" the national agenda this year, not the Harris campaign and the Democrats.

I do everything in extremes. Moderates are like unicorns to me. I can't imagine growing up in a safe home with good parents, and most moderates I know grew up financially stable and are from a decent family.

Personally, I would not feel safe in Texas for many reasons. I feel the same about Florida. But home is home for many who do not have the ability to move. Or, like the story of the frog who was placed in a pot of cold water with the heat on the lowest setting; over time the heat was raised but slowly, slowly. And with each change in temp the frog did not notice until it reached the boiling stage when the frog was boiled it being too late to make a hop.

Oh, that sounds wonderful. I wish you much luck in your house hunting. Stay safe and continue to take care of yourself.

Smart? Maybe for a modern Republican politician, but it's a pretty relative term.

Expand full comment

I find it laughable that Trump will put aside his personal raids on the Republican members of the Congress and Senate who support their Dear Leader when what matters to him is getting whatever he wants done by proven personal loyalists under his rule. He comes first and the GOP can screw itself. The Speaker and Majority Leader get the rough end of the stick because, as Trump would put it, it is their job to deal with membership — not his. The GOP has been played for suckers.

Like it or not, major issues of public policy have been "left to the states." Health care, abortion, firearms regulation to name just three (and climate destruction as well). So whether we call defending our citizens in these areas "state's rights" or not, the Blue states have no other options right now.

Give Trump a minute. He will try to federalize everything so he can hurt the Blue states. The Red states are already hurting their own citizens.

And the Blue states are readying to defend us (I am in Washington state) from Trump - with some experience at the last rodeo in doing so.

The Dems should go public with a list of Republican House members that they believe would make awful Cabinet members. The spiteful, lame brain Trump is sure to nominate them. Dems may get a majority after all.
