Sorry Will, but please stop pretending that Trump doesn’t mean what he clearly says. In this case, the you won’t have to vote cause I fixed it, means you won’t have to vote cause I’ll be your emperor. No one -ever, even Trump - is dumb enough to tell their electorate that their votes wont be needed at some time in the future if there are…

No one -ever, even Trump - is dumb enough to tell their electorate that their votes wont be needed at some time in the future if there are actually going to be elections. Sheesh….this guy has been repeatedly telling us who is is. Believe him
This is another example of Trump's "secret sauce". He says something that makes no sense, within itself and often within reasonably nearby context. So folks attempt to interpret what it means, which seems to me to be a fool's errand. Subsequently, he can claim it to be whatever he sees as being to his advantage, retrospectively - muddying the waters even more - and making many of the purported interpreters look like clueless speculators.
If Trump's gibbering can never be taken quite literally (what, exactly, is he trying to say about sharks and batteries?), that shouldn't encourage us to dismiss any particular bit of gibberish as being unserious. The opposite: almost anything he says should be assumed to be some kind of threat.
I'm with Will only insofar as it's pointless for us to wait for a Trump speech in which he "finally" reveals his real intentions. His followers are not suddenly going to wake up and say, "Ah, now I understand what you've been warning me about!" OTOH I think he means what he said here.

Totally agree. I listened to the whole clip and it was disconcerting. Trump means what he says, so let’s take him seriously.

I think he just did reveal his real intentions.
