Adonis let's him fight because it's his guilty way of trying to redeem himself to his friend. It's not his responsibility for Damian to win or not. He probably assumes he's going to lose but he's doing what Dame wants him to do. That's like a clear motivation. He lies to the Canelo Alvarez character and his mom...internal conflict and all that.
Throwing what amounts to an amateur boxer in the ring with the champ is a good way to get the amateur killed. It's a terribly dangerous thing to do to a "friend."
It's a friend he saw as like a god when he was little and was probably the most raw talented boxer he ever met. It's not rational, but I could see why that character would have too much believe in his friend. And the guy was in prison and gave up anything he ever had in his life. Fighting to be the world champ was all he wanted and all he devoted himself to, and he had nothing else. In the structure of that movie I could totally see why he did it. It's obviously silly that Dame could win that fight but I thought it made sense at least emotionally.
Oh my how I sympathize with Peter. On multiple occasions, I have visited French restaurants in the US, and have had to teach the bartenders how to serve pastis. Pastis. In French restaurants. Pastis. Literally the simplest and most French cocktail in existence, one that is consumed millions of times a day in France.
Either I'm an unobservant Philistine, or all of my local theaters are above par. But I have zero complaints. I have never noticed a problem with a screening. And the theaters I attend are clean. My only beef is with long lines at the counter. But I've only seen one movie in a theater since 2019 so maybe this is a recent problem that I've totally avoided.

I really enjoy when Sonny channels his inner Walt Kowalski.
AM I THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE RULES (and also the projection)?
(I realize this is Walter Sobchak, but it's the same vibe.)
