Saw “Poor Things” last night Struck me as the patriarchal Victorian prequel to “Barbie.” Strong female actualization to the dismay of most men surrounding Bella. Bizarre grand spectacle. This is a great podcast, I'm pretty convinced to see 'Poor Things' so the review told me that much.
But I wanted to insert a short rant about the Netflix Data. We watched 'Leave the World Behind', and right away, started channeling Sonny, "Why is this on streaming? Why not have a theatrical run?" I really don't get it, the movie was obviously well made, and it starred pretty big 'Hollywood' names. But I never saw an ad, and I barely heard a peep about it (it was totally okay). But even more than that, I'm frustrated by the whole streaming thing, I want to be able to watch specific movies that catch my attention over the years. Like right now, I'm trying to catch up to Millers Crossing and Blood Simple, the 2 Coen movies I have seen. Never on streaming. I'm stuck, I already pay too much for all the streaming, and now I have to VOD. Ugh. All this is a long way to say, wouldn't it be nice if we all had one place that bundled all these features together in convienent package and delivered right to your home (and that company gain a monoply and decided customer service was over-rated and the customers were not price senstive). Sorry, ranty tonight.
It might be me with Buster Scruggs, I've watched that opening act a bunch of times :)
One more thing. Was I the only one that saw Bella study and become a scientist like her “God??” Or did I imagine that?
In response to the brothel scenes. A lot of movie happened after that.

Is 'Poor Things' made from Alasdair Gray's story? The story's great, and definitely not a trifle.
It is!
Woohoo!
