Here's how I responded to a Biden fundraising email today:

"Dear Mr. President,

Thank you for reaching out.

I am grateful for you beating Trump in 2020 and being a great steward of the American people over the last three and a half years.

However, given the news that you recently contracted COVID, I am asking that you step down as a candidate and allow Vice President Harris to run in order to build on the great foundation you have laid.

I wish nothing but the best for you and your family along with a quick recovery from COVID.

Gratefully Yours,"

It made me sad to send that, but the news of the President coming down with COVID was the final nail for me.

If he stays I will still vote for him, but feels like the universe is demanding he drop out in favor of someone else.

You were a lot nicer than me. I've been responding to those emails with a quick "Not one more dollar from me until Biden drops out."

Exactly!!

I respect your humility, LC. Welcome.

I'm just curious, why was it Covid that did it for you?

He's isolating for about 10 days(?) and that's 10 days you can't get back.

Also, the juxtaposition of a bloodied Trump holding up a defiant fist with the flag streaming overhead and Biden sick in bed.

It sucks and is unfair, but it is what it is.

And the fact that this outcome increasingly is starting to feel like the 1964 Philadelphia Phillies playing out in the political arena. This whole thing is starting to have a feeling of inevitability about it, as the Democrats increasingly can't buy a break and the Republicans see everything they want falling into place as if a train on a schedule.

I still have no personal preference, but I certainly can't blame others for thinking that, at this point, as the roof seems in utter, inevitable collapse for the Dems, it is less like replacing Joe is some sort of palace intrigue and more a matter of "what do we have to lose?".

Maybe Biden can put up his fist from bed and they can superimpose an American flag behind it like Trumps picture.. I mean Biden did bring the end of Covid restrictions. …. Nah just joking..

God, I hate liking this post...but funny!

Yeah, that photo of Trump vs how Biden's looking these days was bad even before the Covid diagnosis, but I hear you. Maybe getting Covid will give Biden a chance to look at things more as an observer than a participant and get some objectivity about the situation we're in; let's hope.

Maybe his family and son honest doctor will tell him he can't keep getting COVID and expect it will just be a cold. Long haul symptoms are correlated with repeated bouts.

He's had it multiple times? I didn't even realize that.

This is his second round.

Thx. Was wondering.

I'm hoping it gives Joe the face saving excuse he needs to drop out.

Which is what, with all the quick pronouncements about his ego, character, etc. when he didn’t immediately capitulate did not allow him. It’s been pretty despicable to read and watch the gross characterizations that have been used about Joe and anyone who was struggling with the choice of continuing with or replacing Joe (Trump and MAGA? Really?!?!). IMO, was handled in the worst possible way from the get-go from a psychological standpoint. Not just with Biden but his supporters and Dem voters and constituencies. I don’t know if the replace Biden voices can fully comprehend how unprecedented their immediate public response was after the debate was and how surprising and shocking to others. It gave no one any space to move and guaranteed a defensive response.
