So glad you're saying that because I think the sex stories are getting too much air/text. Better clickbait than the details about how astonishingly unqualified these people are. (My daughter, two years out of law school and working as a prosecutor, pointed out that she had more relevant experience than Matt Gaetz.). Your Morning Shots are the only newsletters I open immediately - I simply can't wait. So I guess I'm with your editor: no rest for the weary just yet. Thank you, thank you.

Evidence of America's preoccupation with illicit sex. And that's not acceptance of the deplorable behavior. But you're right - the higher priority should be how unqualified these nominees are. Although Hegseth's drinking - that is a major issue, if he's having to be carried out of events. Eh, it's all bad shit. They're all subpar depraved humans who should be in therapy for decades working through their bad selves, but won't be.

I can't remember who (Sarah or JVL or Tim) made the point in an earlier podcast that these fellows' backgrounds in terms of behavior towards women would disqualify them at any major company, simply because of the potential for lawsuits. Lawsuits not only for new actions, but for creating a hostile environment.

Which is why attacking them on these things is better than attacking them on policy if the goal is to torpedo the nomination and get rid of them. Right now a policy argument is useless and won’t win you anything except Trump’s wrath and a lack of cooperation from your peers in government. I’m arguing behavior with my phone calls and emails to my Senators who are both Republicans. I’m trying to make an “unfit for office” argument based on verifiable data points that can be used by my Senators without getting them in trouble on ideology. They can then vote “no” without losing their pull in the Senate.

Sex sells unfortunately, but ultimately the American people will pay little attention until we feel the direct effects of the Administration’s policies. I listened to some of Russell Vought’s ideas on one of your podcasts yesterday, and oh boy, he’s there behind the scenes preparing to implement t a truly radical, post-Constitutional order. I wonder when we as a people will wake up.

only when the buses and chains and dogs and men and armor are everywhere and blood runs in the streets and when checks are late in the mailbox and perhaps a TORNADO blows their house away??

I hope we wake up sooner than that!

Yep the problem with the msm. Focus on the horse race and scandal. Never on the impacts

Agreed, and the other thing in this Morning Shot which is an excellent point is that the scaredy pants Congressional Republicans can talk about the bad sex stuff because they’re bad optics, and they know Trump cares about that. He doesn’t want to be humiliated. But they can’t talk about the more important lack of qualifications and how these people have said they’re going to do illegal, corrupt things because they know that’s what Trump wants. They’re terrified to talk about that.

They can’t talk about the lack of qualifications because that calls to mind Trump’s judgement.
