Can we all take a second today to smile and thoroughly enjoy Mr. Syke’s use of the phrase “da fuq?”

Yes indeed, Officer Fanone: WTF...

Trump said: "I know your pain, I know you're hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election and everyone knows it, especially the other side -- (SOME STUFF ABOUT GOING HOME, ORDER, PEACE, ETC.) -- It's a very tough period of time. There's never been a time like this where such a thing happened where they could take it away from all of us — from me, from you, from our country. This was a fraudulent election, but we can't play into the hands of these people. We have to have peace. So go home. We love you. You're very special. You've seen what happens. You see the way others are treated that are so bad and so evil. I know how you feel. But go home and go home in peace."

When I watched him on TV saying these things over twenty one months ago now, on Jan 6th 2021, I thought, well, that's it for him. He's barred himself from future elected office (Newsflash: he's still completely eligible, viable, and popular with the R base). I've noticed media pundits tend to focus on the "We love you, you're very special" part of that speech. But notice how much time he devotes to basically saying F U anyone who dodnt vote for me, doubling down with more intentional incitement and self-serving lies after our Capitol was just ransacked on his behalf, and attacking those who won't acquiesce with a straight face, calling them "evil" and election stealers, "these people", all to sickeningly stroke his bruised ego for the world to witness rather than simply de-escalate. These are his first words after three-plus hours of constitutional dericlection of duty during which he tweeted disparaging incitement about VP Pence as Pence was being hunted for assassination by the mob he incited. When taken with his campaign's documented fake elector scheme and the recording of him telling the GA Sec of State to "find" the 11k non-existent ballots he needed to steal the GA vote, to avoid anything "bad" happening to the GA Sec of State, the only objective conclusion is he must be barred from office, if not indicted. If the DoJ must wait until after the midterms to do anything, so be it, but it has to be done. I'm afraid they're hoping the nation forgets about it, because God forbid we hold an x-President to account, even the biggest internal enemy we've ever witnessed to our world-admired free and fair election system. Still eligible for office 21 months later. I'm not sure why we care so dearly about what his diehard supporters will think. There's never been a clearer case of someone unfit to helm this great democracy. It's like a comically derived exaggeration of how such a person would act, but he's 100% real, still tolerated and tip-toed around. God forbid we give him something to whine about before November. It's pathetic how much we've allowed him to get away with to this point. We need and must have closure --- for Fanone, for all defenders of democracy and the constitution.

I just read about Trump’s blather about Bush & the Chinese restaurant bowling alley, so now it all makes sense. What a world we’re in.

Never Trumpers and Indepents need to help us all out of this mess. It’s time to put the alt-right MAGA clowns down. As for their leaders? Can we vomit them into the stratosphere?

I join Jeb in his confusion. Is this Non Sequitur Week? Stream of Consciousness Day? Ok, I’ll bite. Covfefe.

Trump is saying that the FBI planted the documents, and in the next breath screaming they're all his! How long is McConnell going to put up with this? Or his family? If it were anyone else, he would be in a straitjacket. How can anyone with half a brain put up with this lunatic? The British at least marginalized their mad kings (or executed them). Is 99% of the GOP also insane?

Much respect to Tim Miller for his Q&A session with Senator Cruz. Despite the Senator's "you're done!" executive order,Tim is definitely not done. Tim will continue to be a smart, competent, and determined pro-democracy / anti-coup American in good standing.

What a surprise that McCarthy had no response when confronted by Officer Fanone.

After all, how do you look a police officer in the eye, after he's put his life on the line to protect YOUR TRAITOROUS pathetic excuse of a life, and admit that he's playing politics the lives of police officers.

Shall we take Ted Cruz’s initial willingness to engage with Tim as an acknowledgment that Rafael is NOT a secret Bulwark Plus subscriber?

For those of us who can't be there in person, would the Bulwark consider opening up some kind of poll or pool or other wagering method so that we can all guess the total number of F bombs dropped during the event?

Lots of grim news to digest. However, seeing Tim Miller on The Circus is a total delight.

Although I have yet to see a definition of the word, what in the world is the difference between an "Influencer" and TFG (or Ye or El)? Both are nothings without the internet. Both are paid by their "followers" either directly via donations of money, or indirectly by their clicks which lead to advertisers paying them money, which either way will wind up in their own pockets. OK, so some "influencers" are eye-candy, which can't be said for TFG, but otherwise?

The GOP definitely needs a new motto: Putting "Cult" back in Culture.

I know their goal is to just overwhelm with horse-puckey, but the last six years brings back one of the many memorable lines from "The Shawshank Redemption/Stephen King's novella", which I find particularly apt.

"I was in the path of the tornado. I just didn't expect the storm would last as long as it has."

If/when the winds stop spinning, who or what will be left?

Nice take on the motto thing. And good question at the end.

Pity me as an Arizonan looking forward to Kari Lake as governor. I am praying really hard that "dull", but competent, Katie Hobbs squeaks out a win.

The malignant trio are all mentally ill in some way, but that excuses nothing. The ancient Greeks had a lot to say about hubris, but we've been waiting for the fall for a while now. I'm concerned about the next set of grifters ready to slide into place when the current cast exits the stage. The loons might be only 20% of the country, but they have an outsized influence.

Indeed, the loons (and the despots and wannabes) have an outsized influence. Always have, apparently. Been wondering why.
