WHO was it that passed legislation honoring the Capitol and Metro PD for their courageous service on 1/6? WHO was it that honored them with the Presidential Medal of Freedom? On the other hand, WHO is calling for defunding the FBI and the IRS? WHO booed Capitol police officers at a party meeting in PA just last week? For crying out loud, Bill! ENOUGH!
Agree. Bill is confusing perceptions of the Left, generated by right-wing media, with actual Democratic accomplishments, as well as the views of most Dem voters. In 2020, polling showed that Democrats "showed very strong support for strengthening relationships between officers and the communities they police" (https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/07/22/abolish-police-gallup-poll/. The perception is false. He should be pointing that out, not taking those perceptions as reality.
Also, these questions are a great basis for a very good Biden campaign ad.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and the loudest loons get the media coverage. Most Democrats don’t want to defund, or do away with, the police, and I dare say most Republicans would not boo the police, but both extremes become considered a representative sample.
The Capitol police got booed because they stood in the way of the orange god/king from achieving his objective.
I couldn't agree with you more, Linda. I don't believe that most Democrats or establishment Republicans are against the police or law enforcement. It's become too easy to let the loudest, craziest voices to get all the media coverage. That's just plain lazy - and dangerous. And misleading.
We live in a stupid society where words speak louder than actions, and lies speak louder than truths. Democrats show their support through actions, with accurate messaging. Republicans, though, get to be seen as the law and order party because, while they attack the 1/6 police who defended the Capitol while they defend the insurrectionists, the leader of their party talks about executing drug dealers and shooting migrants on the Mexico side of the border.

...and MAGAnuts speak louder than anyone without ever saying anything of value.
And even people some of our friend here at The Bulwark play right into that stupidity.
