It’s easy to dismiss them. We have to accept that they have these followings because they are representative of SOMETHING.

I don’t want to understand them to justify their actions. I want to understand them to find a cause for why they are the way they are so that we can do something to intervene and bring back as many of these individuals as possible.

These influencers understand what makes us mad. They mainline that knowledge to create conflict with non-MAGA people so that they can “fight” or “own” them.

Writing them off makes it more difficult to understand them and fight back against their positions.

I’m genuinely sorry if this comes off as self-righteous on my part; I’m surrounded by them on a daily basis.

What if that SOMETHING is just grievance, laziness, ignorance, stupidity, phone/social media addiction, etc.?

Influencers don’t have to have a movement or principles. Maybe it’s anger for anger’s sake?

I think the something is all of those things and probably other things as well. Your description highlights symptoms (laziness) and illnesses (social media addiction). We need to disentangle those things.

I am not dismissing them by any means.

You are correct that you didn’t dismiss them. I jumped to a conclusion when I read your description. That’s totally my fault.

No worries
