Let me get this straight, so the plan is to have a rough period followed by growth after said rough period…. Isn’t that pretty similar to what we just went thru w inflation under Biden? We dealt w higher prices as a result of stimulus that kept nearly everyone employed. There was no recession and we were seeing the other side of it. Yet all the short sighted Americans couldn’t handle higher prices and voted Biden out. Now Trump is inflicting the rough period for no reason (Biden had to do it bc Trump bungled Covid) and we can’t ask him how this is any different than how they cried about inflation under Biden? Can we find some actual journalists to ask these questions to the administration?
Regarding Musk, an unelected co-president, calling Sen. Mark Kelly a “Traitor,” we truly need to figure out how to have boundaries on “Free Speech.” The epithets that are put on SM and blithely thrown around undermine our society. “Them’s fightin’ words” used to be the response to that vile label. Hooray for Mark Kelly! He is fighting right back.
Before Trump was elected this time, Republicans we so concerned about the US deficit they said it was our greatest Security Risk. We watched as the amount of our Debt Service climbed astronomically. If Trump and Elon really wanted to make our Country better, they would put every penny saved from their foray into our Agencies systems to paying down our debt. Instead Musk wants to give individual checks to citizens and some Congressmen want to raise the debt ceiling. We are not only Trump-deranged but deranged by every single one of the Agency Heads.
It looks like Kelly is this year's John McCain, someone who served his country honorably but is somehow a traitor in Trumpworld. It's beyond disgusting. But it's what those in Trump's orbit always do. Instead of simply disagreeing with someone, they have to personally attack them, often in scandalous and completely untrue terms. So I'm not expecting any real sincere defense of Kelly. There may be some "I wouldn't have said it that way" kind of remarks. But I doubt anyone will attack Musk directly. They're too afraid he'll sic DOGE on them if they do.
So, once again, those who have fought for this country are derided and defamed, all in defense of someone who avoided service altogether. Lewis Carroll (or George Orwell) would be proud.
Mighta been kinda foggy, but Biden had more skill going in his institutional memory than Trump could come up with even after a triple dose of Adderall.
I can guarantee you any study with RFK Jr’s fingerprints on it will be neither rigorous nor scientific.
The authoritarianism I kind of understand. I don’t agree- but I understand. The anti-science policies can only be explained by a violent opposition to anything perceived as ‘left’. So- reality is now ‘left’. Facts are now ‘left’. Science is now ‘left’.
With the recent twitter/X dust up on starlink, should Musk decide to stop starlink service to Ukraine, that would be much closer to traitorous activity than anything Kelly as done.
Trump has a long record of saying that he's going to spend money to help this or that person (veterans come to mind at the time of the 2016 election, and then there was his whole "foundation" that the State of New York required him to terminate because he was his own favorite charity), then not doing it. Does anyone know what color Tesla he bought today? Is "Vapor" even a color that they come in?
One of the few bits of good news this week was the Liberal Party of Canada's election of Mark Carney as their new Leader, and the next Prime Minister of Canada.
In comparison to Carney, his opponent in the upcoming election, Pierre Poilievre, who seemed rather promising last week, now looks pretty much like a replacement-level Center-Right politician. And the Liberals might just pull this out. Carney's an amazing upgrade from Trudeau.
Carney made it clear in his first speech as Leader that he's not going to play along with Trump's Now They're On/Now They're Off tariffs game: Canada's retaliatory tariffs are going to stay in place until Trump starts showing some respect. Carney was a real business person, he didn't just play one on reality TV, and he headed up not one but TWO central banks of the G7, one as a non-citizen. He has intellectual horsepower that Trump can't even dream of, and a record of achievement that Trump's whole Island of Misfit Toys Cabinet couldn't match all together on their best day.
I hope that our northern neighbors decide to give him a chance: watching him square off against the Pancake Makeup Mussolini will be good for freedom everywhere.
The convicted felon President broke SEC laws today by pumping up Tesla stock. Oh shock, no one cares because he is breaking so many laws at once, cops can't pay attention. Oh, and he bought off all the cops at FBI, CIA, SEC.
We must stop this criminal destruction of our life and country, from a sick sick criminal man and his disorganization
It's one thing to have a recession as part of the "normal" business cycle, quite something else again to force a recession wherein no economist with any brains can tell where it may go since there is no longer any normal.
And I would ask "What of Biden's inflation?" 4-1/2%? After Orange's Covid debacle? It was in the teens during Nixon-Ford-Carter. Biden should be considered one of the most successful presidents ever. Soft landing, no recession, rising wages, $4 eggs. No impeachment. Thrashing Russia. Decent. Honorable. And a very good politician.
Has anyone called attention to the fact that tariffs were part of the chain of events that led to the Pacific theater of World War II?
Mark Kelly was giving aid and comfort to a US ally. Trump is giving aid and comfort to an enemy. Should Trump be accused of treason?
Viewed through the lens that Trump is a Russian asset all of his actions make perfect sense.

I'm glad I had to get an MMR as an adult to attend Penn's Graduate School of Nursing.
I had 5 great aunts who were deaf. All went deaf due having Measles or German Measles or their mother having it while pregnant.

That leaves us in a terrifying place.

Massie clearly lacks the two most important elements for full membership to the MAGA coterie...kneepads and napkins.
