I was thinking this same basic premise last night - Trump is making moves to consolidate his grip on the federal government - and the country at large.
While there's been a lot of discussion around the culture war issues - immigration, Jan 6, DEI - the REAL moves were going on as well:

While there's been a lot of discussion around the culture war issues - immigration, Jan 6, DEI - the REAL moves were going on as well:
Firing and investigations of senior DOJ staff; firing of the IGs, installation of lackeys at DOD/DOJ/FBI; defending Stewart Rhodes in court; impoundment.
He's daring Congress to try and stop him from controlling who/what gets money (oh, and it's a great way for Trump to get bribes, er...donations).
Meanwhile, he's removing anyone who could possibly blow the whistle on him, let alone stop him.
AND, he's putting people in place who are in charge of the military/law enforcement who's only qualification is that they do Trump's bidding.
All those moves remind me of how, at the end of his last term, he was moving people around like pieces on a chess board, and at the time I was nonplussed. Seeing this current consolidation of power, I think those previous moves were because he really thought J6 would be successful. He now has way more judicial and Congressional backup. We are fast becoming Trumpsylvania.

Very scary stuff.
It's terrifying how quickly federal departments are rushing to do Trump's will in a way that could only have been planned for months ahead of time.
Hence Project 2025.

I've been calling us Trumpistan.
That’s good, too. It’s looking less and less like America every day, & it’s only been one week.
