I also wonder why so much attention is paid to Musk’s scientific “genius”; he is an entrepreneur/venture capitalist who happens to be in tech and bet big at the right time. He could equally be in the poor house with so many other very smart people whose gambles did not pay off. Why do we call these billionaires "tech bros" when, in fact, they're high stakes gamblers, visionaries, who, right place, right time, founded great companies?

People don't realize or remember that it was Nikola Tesla who was the real genius, on fairly equal par with Einstein. And Nikola Tesla was able to perform Integral Calculus in his head! Musk basically commodified Tesla's work.

When you're rich, people assume you're smart when, as you point out, you are also very lucky. And remember he is not entirely "self made." He grew up in a wealthy family.

Yeah, Dimon saying he’s our Einstein says a lot about our current era and disqualifies Dimon from talking about science ever again. Einstein literally changed how we view the universe and is the most famous scientist probably ever.

The references to Elon’s technical knowledge is just basic ass kissing because Elon wants to think of himself that way. Seems like he used to be a good executive who was willing to dig deep into technical problems, but now he’s jumping around on stage beclowning himself every week because he needs attention I guess and is completely Twitter brained/red pilled.

Dimon may have been trolling trump and Musk a bit. This reporting suggests to me a reason: https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-x-twitter-debt-financing-banks-2008-financial-crisis-2024-8

I have also read that he is semi-autistic as an EXCUSE for his Nazi-Salute. I need to find a reliable, reputable Psychiatrist or a definition in whatever edition of the DMS is currently valid, that would confirm that semi-autistic people have no moral compass.

Again, I'm not an expert - I'm just exposed to some things through my work.

It's not uncommon for people on the autism spectrum to have difficulties recognising their own emotions and/or the emotions of others which can lead to various communication difficulties. It's also not uncommon for people on the autism spectrum to have a strong sense of justice. There are therapies and day to day strategies to minimise or overcome these difficulties, but whether people actually receive them is another matter.

Musk seems like a relentless troll so I'm going to make an uneducated guess that he knows what he's doing.

I think those people are referring to the difficulties people on the autism spectrum can have with their gross motor skills. Given Musk's age and despite his father's wealth, it's entirely possible he didn't receive appropriate therapy.

I'm not saying this is a reasonable suggestion as I'm not qualified to judge (and it looked like the Nazi salute to me and joking about it, well ...).

Thanks for adding to my store of knowledge, but I have an insurmountable doubt he was kidding or did not know what he was doing given the comments he made thereafter and his love of facists and other authoritarians in the US and everywhere.

Agree. Even if it wasn't what we think, he has made his position clear elsewhere so ...

Sandra, I usually am the first to give people the benefit of the doubt, but, having the "insurmountable doubt" that I do, I can't join your "Even if". He has the master of saying what he is going to do, what he thinks, what he plans, as his current useful idiot, teaching him, if he needs it, that is.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you are saying. I'm just saying that I think he made the Nazi salute and I think he did it deliberately.

Sandra, I accept your statement that you think he knew what he was doing when he made the Nazi salute deliberately. In your previous post, you used the phrase "Even if it wasn't what we think...." which is what I was writing about. I have no doubt that he knew exactly what he was doing, did it deliberately and is jazzed about "owning the libs". You and I are on the same sheet of music, no doubt about that. Next thing you know, he will be parading around a stage in jackboots with a brown-colored shirt. Most of the Magats never really learned about WWII, who started it, how and, most importantly, why, so they will not get worked up about it, and he knows that, too.

I could be wrong, but I think most people that are autistic or have autistic children work to understand what this means, how it presents itself and how to manage it.

Expand full comment

Could be, and having no experience with autistic people, nonetheless, I doubt that a lack of moral compass is part of the "presenting".

I very much agree.
