"Woke conformity?" What is that? I'm a 68 year old white woman with a bachelors degree, that cares about women's health and reproductive rights, education, the environment, affordable housing. These are the very things I marched for in the 70's. I also don't like the current tone of "conservatism" that leans towards racism, misogyny and anti-semitism. Paul Ryan sits on the board of Fox and offers mealy mouth platitudes instead of actually putting his money where his mouth is. That's what it all boils down to, money. So if that makes me woke, so be it!

I think the actively left should take the word “woke”, claim it proudly and turn it into a happy boast - just like Mingo just did. We should get to define what “woke” is. The right has managed to steal the meaning of so many words that are a positive and turn them into a negative - like “feminist”. The right has turned it into an insult. We should claim that back as well. Even the word “liberal” has become derogatory.

I don't think I can top that. Thanks for the support. I have very few friends and family members left that I want to associate with. I misjudged so many people. What I realized is they are right wing haters. I have tried to have an honest conversation about the rhetoric of the Republican party. What I get instead is they don't want to talk about politics or whataboutism. Not one soul has denounced TFG, trumpism, the autocracy movement and the attempt to overthrow our democracy and government on Jan. 6, 2021. If that makes me woke, I'm in good company here at the Bulwark.
Ryan mentioned respecting the voters. When will someone respect non-MAGA voters? There are plenty of us. Maybe they know we aren’t going to storm the Capital if we don’t get our way. Not dangerous enough to be respected.
