I watched Rebel Ridge cold. Excellent surprise. After reading the reviews of many asking ‘where is the more violence?’ I wonder why there are not more slower burn movies like this. Slow burning and edge of your seat. Great film.

And THE FOUNTAIN is a masterpiece.

I really enjoyed Rebel Ridge and agree with the review. Makes me want to go check out some more Saulnier films.

Sonny I love your contributions to the Bulwark. I’d love for you and Jim Swift could host a four week series on your journey from conservative inc to the Bulwark.

Rebel Ridge upended my expectations while delivering the goods in a pulpy yet subtler fashion. As your thoughtful review points out, this seems to give Saulnier's ideas room to grow in our minds.

I am stoked to watch Rebel Ridge. I'm not sure a movie about qualified immunity would be much fun, but someone should try it.

Or a movie about a fictionalized Louis Scarcella. The reality is that when a wrongful conviction is overturned, the exoneree is not thinking of revenge.

My favorite Aronofsky movie is "The Fountain" with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. I love everything about that movie, especially the soundtrack. In fact, I think I'll watch it again this weekend. Thanks for the reminder, Sonny!

100% a fantastic soundtrack. So dramatic the music itself aches.

THE FOUNTAIN is very much in the same vein as POSTCARD FROM EARTH, all about rebirth and renewal and that sort of thing.

You had me at Rachel Weisz.
