Andrew: "The first is that Trump’s nomination of an out-and-out crank to run HHS is the strongest proof yet that the president-elect truly learned nothing from his experience quarterbacking federal pandemic response."

Andrew's looking at this rationally, and that's a mistake. What Trump understands is the American people simply don't give a shit about the 700K excess COVID deaths. What they care about exclusively is themselves.
Also, allowing illness and disease to weaken a nation is straight out of the authoritarian playbook, and Trump will pay no price for it.
I’m having an epiphany, maybe actually late to the party. All these conspiracy cranks Trump is installing will have the effect of completely muddling the truth. So when the urgent pushback against Trump gets stronger it will look just like these conspiracy cranks, and be ignored. I’m becoming more scared with each passing day. Dystopia has arrived. It was voted in under the cloak of “freedom”. Of course.
It appears to me that, contrary to the BS from his campaign, Trump doesn't really care about this country. A president-elect who truly loves this country would never nominate a group of obviously unqualified people to his administration. Instead, he would try to populate it with best qualified people available. Sad!!!
I'm going to embrace my inner JVL/Nick Catoggio and state simply this is what the American people wanted. Watching competence and expertise is boring. Watching RFK Jr. unleash disease on the country, on the other hand, is exciting. The only prudent course of action is to let the GOP own what's about to happen.
Amen Tim. Everybody looking at Trump and using logic, reason, or critical thinking has already missed the boat. I am so frustrated by the normalization that has allowed everything to become fodder for analysis instead of just repeating ad nauseam that Trump is a deranged sociopath and all decisions he makes should be seen through that lens.

It’s what happens in every country that goes authoritarian. He learned from his pal Putin.
Someone noted on a social media post that in the near future the easiest way to defeat America militarily will be with biological weapons.
The easiest way to defeat America is to let Americans vote.
Touché. That pesky problem of voting is soon to be solved. Closing the barn door after the horses have fled.
So spot on!!!
He chose Kennedy because he’s a Kennedy and a kiss ass.
And the Democrats said, no thank you to Kennnedy when he tried to get suppirt from them.
He chose Kennedy because he wanted the Kennedy voters.
Well, he's also like Trump: a narcissistic sociopath. Birds of a feather.
Agreed. He will try to use any health crisis to engender hatred, confusion, and competition and as an excuse for authoritarian moves.

We damned ourselves as a nation when we started consuming reality tv nonstop.
When news became infotainment, we put the nail in the coffin.
And engage in personal preparation. The government will not be saving the populace.
Correct.

Not just Trump. The whole cabal.
This is a cabinet full of narcissist sociopaths.
But there can only be one big, narcissistic cheese, right? It's going to be like cats in a bag.
Bald men fighting over a comb.
That could well mitigate the damage. Infighting and incompetence are our new paradoxical saviors.
I'm going to stitch your last sentence on a pillow.
