Parents are the problem because they act like kids. Facebook & MySpace were originally college kids or high schoolers posting too many photos from their camera but little harm happened on a desktop didn’t effect life as much.

But then older and younger parents started posting zillions of photos of their kids to passive-aggressively compete with their friends that also have kids. Now kids are photographed more frequently than 1990s supermodels were. When I was young going mini-golfing or throwing a football or going to the movies or eating breakfast was not photo worthy. And it still isn’t but parents don’t seem to understand that.

So most kids that are hooked on watching videos and sharing photos & videos of themselves can blame their parents for enabling them before they are even at an age they can understand much. Phone free schools are good but the issue isn’t going away because one consistency over the past 200+ years is that parents engaging in behavior and telling their high school aged kids they can’t engage in said behavior is a recipe for disaster (drugs, sex, social media, etc.)

As I wrote yesterday, the reason why the Harris-Walz campaign is struggling in public opinion polls is because many Americans, particularly African Americans, Latinos, and Arab Americans do not fear the consequences of anotherTrump presidency nearly enough.

Too many of these voters still view the 2024 presidential election as just another typical election campaign like 1996 or 2012. And being that many of them are disillusioned with President Biden over his handling of the situation in the Middle East or some other issue or are sexist or racist, they will need to fear that something is going to be taken away from them if they do not cast a vote for VP Harris and Gov. Walz. At this point, fear is the only thing that has the potential to motivate them to vote in large numbers.

And it is highly frustrating to me that the Harris-Walz campaign still does not seem to fully recognize this, as evidenced by the appearance of one their campaign spokespersons yesterday on a Sunday morning show. The threat that Trump poses to all of our rights and freedoms as Americans and constitutional democracy at large is not being effectively communicated to these voters.

The campaign has only themselves to blame for this. Out of concern about appearing overly negative and desperate, they have blown opportunity after opportunity to call out Trump for what he truly is: a full-blown racist and fascist.

Why it is so hard for VP Harris to say to the American people “My opponent for President is an existential threat to all of our rights and freedoms as Americans and constitutional democracy? He has explicit plans to take away your health care by repealing the Affordable Care Act, jail you or worse if he does not like you of if you criticize him too much, ban abortion from the time of conception, take away you right to vote, and is completely and uniquely unfit to serve as President form a moral and temperamental standpoint. If, you don’t believe me, read his Project 2025 or watch or listen to one of his rallies. Doing this will show you everything you need to know.”

It’s that simple. There should be zero mention about the specifics of economic policy at this time. It is a distraction from the message in the aforementioned paragraph.

Whether this would work or not is completely up to the American people. But it is the hill the Harris-Walz campaign and anyone in America who cares about freedom and democracy must die on, if necessary. Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.

Harris is beginning to go right after Trump, and Trump is helping by being crazier. Also, there are now Harris ads featuring former Trump administration people talking about how incompetent and out of control Trump is.

My grandchildren are definitely on their screens too much, but it has made them closer to their friends.

My school invested in Yondr bags, and they made a huge difference in student focus and participation. The breaking point was acknowledging the increase in school fights in the district was due to kids using their phones to organize them. Btw, teachers need to turn their own phones off as well.
