On this week’s episode, Sonny Bunch (The Bulwark), Alyssa Rosenberg (The Washington Post), and Peter Suderman (Reason) ask what, precisely, Trump’s “ambassadors to Hollywood” are supposed to be doing. Then they review September 5, the harrowing tick-tock examination of how ABC Sports covered Black September’s terrorist attack at the Munich games that led to the slaughter of nearly the entire Israeli Olympic team. I could be wrong, but the whole Taylor Sheridan is MAGA coded rings false for me. His shows are about morals and codes. I don’t know if that is MAGA. I know a bunch of blue collar Democrats in West Michigan that love them. I think they are more like working class Aaron Sorkin. Now, granted, Sorkin is liberal but a bunch of conservatives I knew loved the show. In the same way Sheridan might be conservative (I truly don’t know) but the shows work because like the West Wing they are morality plays. Right is right, codes are oaths, and people seek justice.
This was a really interesting show unfortunately here in the US Virgin Islands I highly doubt that they will be bringing September 5 to theaters here. So I will have to wait and hope that one of the streaming services picks it up.
