Many of the right leaning independents will stick with Trump. However, there is a chance she can peel off enough independents and dual haters to pull off the victory.

Part of the problem is that one of your contributors (Mona Charen) said as much during your live stream after he dropped out. She called him unstatesmenlike. It took another member of the panel to point out to her that this was a hard decision because this, in effect, ends his political career. Given her age, she should have been able to realize this. She's in her 70s, right? Its a time when many people feel that their career is coming to an end, but they still have something to offer. No one likes to be cast aside. I think President Biden deserves our grace.

Mona Charen is the bees knees! I don't mind her giving President Biden, who I love beyond reason or measure, a verbal pop. Like him, she's more than earned the right to say exactly what she thinks!

Is this a meaningful factoid? -- Kamala collecting $100M in her first 24 hours would place her 6th among biggest ever movie openings in gross dollars -- right below Star Wars - The Last Jedi (shudder) and above the final Harry Potter film. I respectfully disagree. Kamala is biracial by the way. Asian votes, black votes, progressive votes, young votes, and thoughtful unbiased votes. All are possible.

A couple of weeks ago it was quite gloomy around the Bulwark, but I felt like there was still time to have hope. After seeing Kamala the last couple of days I'm feeling better than I have in a long time!

A bit of revision is in play here. The Dump Biden campaign mounted a massive PR effort that had no effect according to the average of polls on 538 until a full ten days after the debate, and didn't let up until they successfully threw away the most accomplished incumbent since FDR. The next step is to robustly support Harris if Plan B is going to have a prayer of a chance of working. While many Dem leaders understand this, we still see waffling, and even an insistence on concession from some, similar to the approach taken by the GOP with respect to McCarthy's speakership.

I follow all the pods and YouTube videos of The Bulwark, but in past 2 days I’m trolling for the latest like I’m on a desert island looking for coconuts. Keep ‘em comin!

I just listened to Harris's first speech and Tim's commentary. Wow. She exceeded my expectations. That's a good feeling.

Cornball alert!: We're ready to cinch up our saddles, mount up, we're going against the dark storm of our enemy. Let's ride, people...

Yeah, I know. Corn, all the way.

I'm back at 55-42 Harris-Trump.

He's toast.

I’m thinking she can win. Dems are excited and re-energized. Her speech today was awesome. Her timing. Her calling out of Trump’s criminality. Take heart!

She came out on fire. Introduced by first gentleman, Mr. Emhoff in a lovely way. And Joe on the phone with support and thanks to her and staff in the crowd. The word "love" passed between them. My goodness, I think we are witnessing something wonderful. $81 million in 24 hours from 900K people, majority new donors. 60,000 new volunteers to the campaign also in 24 hours. Next excitement: VP pick. Money seems on Shapiro or Kelly.

TG dems had the good sense to boot the awful, divisive "open convention." Definition of asking for trouble, because beautiful dreams are for sleeping. Time now to be wide awake. Folks didn't get to choose her in a primary? Really? Who did they think was coming in for Joe in the LIKELY event he would need to pass the baton in any second term? People already effectively voted for her.

This 4th of July in my house was dire and down. Next 4th I predict will be a banger. 🍉

NYT: "BREAKING NEWS Kamala Harris secured the backing of a majority of the delegates needed to clinch the Democratic nomination. Monday, July 22, 2024 10:16 PM ET On her first full day in the race, Kamala Harris drew endorsements from her final possible rivals, hauled in record sums of cash and attacked Donald Trump."

Goodbye, open convention. "It's done," as John Adams said in "1776".

Thank you kindly for your words, JVL.

Should Biden have resigned? If he had resigned & KH rolled into his spot, Johnson & his thugs would not be able to dispute her nomination, right? Apologies if this is an uneducated question…just trying to understand this entire process…

They can't dispute her nomination. They don't get to dictate who the Democrats nominate.

That threat is more hot air from them.

My suggestion is that Biden’s fundraising operation get ahead of mounting threats by Trump to challenge funds raised by Biden and turned over to Harris. By sending texts to all of us who have donated money to Biden’s campaign, requesting donors to approve of transferring their donations to the Harris election campaign, we can shut down Trump’s allegations of impropriety. Like he should be a judge of impropriety in use of campaign funds?

After watching Harris’ first campaign speech in Delaware today, I suggest the campaign pipes Blue Oyster Cult’s “ Don’t Fear the Reaper” over the speakers whenever she comes onstage for rallies. My God, she carved him up and left him bloody on the floor. https://youtu.be/Dy4HA3vUv2c?si=4bzOJkmciKgD_4ZH

"A jury found him guilty of sexual assault."

Liable, not guilty.

It was a civil trial, not a criminal trial.

The case was brought by a private individual, not a government.

Trump's money was at stake, not his freedom.

The burden of proof was a preponderance of the evidence (>50% certainty) not beyond a reasonable doubt (100% certainty).

Orange man bad, but better to be accurate as these are two very, very different things.

The judge said orange man is a rapist. Repeat that.

Yes because Trump and his bootlickers always tell the truth. Fight fire with fire. Enough of the asymmetrical warfare.

Don't care.

Let the Trump campaign correct the record and say he was only found liable for sexual assault.
