"Tate is a prominent online misogynist shitfuck"..... Straight, with no chaser. Nicely done.

Could we refer to the people approving the nominations as cowardly shitfucks?

Indeed! Joe, tell us what you really think!

As an attorney, I routinely advise colleagues to remove inflammatory rhetoric from their briefs because it's not persuasive, and can often alienate the judge. After all, if your argument is truly strong, state it simply - there's no need for theatrics. That said, I wholeheartedly support Mr. Perticone continuing to set his phaser to kill.

Well, sometimes the simple truth IS inflammatory. I would suggest that Andrew Tate has never been more accurately cast than by "online misogynist shitfuck." Never mind the syntactic beauty of blending Latin, Greek, Old English, and Germanic derivatives in one elegant brushstroke.

Mr. Egger?

Good lord, I attributed the article to Andrew Egger, rather than Joe Perticone. (Fixed now). Thanks for catching that!

Well, I was an editor on both my high school and college newspapers…I correct my husband’s spelling and whatever. Thankfully he puts up with it.

The single most brilliant and incisive combination of words published on the interweb today. Bravo.

I am glad to know that the GOP have thoroughly questioned and vetted Trump's nominees. Their seriousness and due diligence are certainly paying off for Putin.

I like that "shitfuck" is in the Bulwark style guide!

The modern GOP makes spineless supplication an art

I think that Trump may still have some open posts and Andrew Tate will fit in quite nicely with the adjudicated sexual assaulter, and his fellow misogynists.

The Congressional Republicans do not support Ukraine or NATO. They support Trump and Putin. They are every bit the traitors that the Communists were during the Cold War.

I was with you until the third sentence equated DOGE with the Red Scare. They are both very real, very different violations of public trust and each one deserves its own pillar of failure.

But, yeah: the Congressional "Republicans" are magat insurrectionists to a one.

Our detente with Russia is building. Soon we will announce a "normalization of relations" with Putin and whether we "withdraw" from NATO or get expelled, the result will be clear. In a week or so trump will be talking about our WWII alliance with Russia and our "natural friendship." then, the meaning of the appointments of Gabbard and Hegseth will be clear even to the Republicans afflicted with Trumpian sun-blindness.

Trump is also using the meeting in Saudi Arabia to talk business. I wonder just what cut he will expect from each business deal.

He'll try to beat his son-in-law in cashing in there.

I'm sure Jared, Ivanka, and Don Jr. are now, and have been, in Saudi Arabia. C'mon.

Gaza, Ukraine, Panama Canal, Greenland - All theirs for the taking. They can split up the world like the military does for their command centers. Javanka will get the Middle East. Don Jr. can have the Northern Hemisphere.

Can we get tossed from NATO? That would be a bit embarrassing, no? Wonder what the 'very serious Republican hawks' would make of that.

The Republicans have been helping Trump leave first.

Was this in the campaign?

Many republicans in congress are supporting Trump, Vance, Peter Thiel, Curtis Yarvin, Musk and the Christian Nationalists to dismantle our democracy and instill a white supremacist autocracy, besides being buddies with other dictators and Nazis. They all hate democracy. Musk is in charge of wiping out our computers systems and replacing them with their AI systems using their juvenile techno minions as we speak. But no one investigates this or listens. Look it up. They’re hiding in plain sight. Can’t Trump be impeached for treason?!!

Hard to believe that an extra year would have generated much more hardship for Trump. Feels all baked in. Maybe this is only with the benefit of hindsight and it should have been earlier regardless.

I do too. May he swing from the gibbet he made for himself, democracy, and us all.

Yes he caved and let us down big time. He can retire in shame and live out his days with his legacy destroyed.

I totally agree and have been saying this for years.

"Can’t Trump be impeached for treason?!!" That would mean Congressional GOPers take their jobs seriously. They had a chance over Jan. 6 and shrugged. Now? The guy could literally hand Putin the nuclear codes and the Congressional GOP would say, "It's all part of our new relationship!"

Putin is totally playing him to get this kind of information. We have no idea the danger we’re in. I read the media is Russia was laughing at Trump and think he’s a joke.

Sleepwalking? Confused? More like accessories to murder.

Yes some of the cabinet nominees did do what they said they were going to do, but they also lied. Hegseth lied repeatedly about his own history of violence against women, excessive drinking and his stated views on women in the military. There are recordings and video.

Bondi lied about getting rid of the alleged weaponization of DOJ and she has already been caught in a quid-pro-quo with NY mayor Eric Adams. Can't wait to see what they try to say in front of Judge Ho.

Tulsi Gabbard lied about her previous statements about Putin, Ukraine, Syria and Assad. So far she hasn't made any public errors but I suspect we won't have to wait long.

RFK Jr. also lied about his previous statements over and over again.

Finally Kash Patel lied to the faces of Senators about his involvement in the firings at the FBI and whistleblowers have confirmed this. He lied about Trump declassifying documents and then exercised the 5th Amendment rights in front of the grand jury, about his association with the January 6 Choir and their "shitfuck" (Thanks Mr. Perticone) version of the National Anthem and about having an enemies list which is literally printed in his book.

Republicans are complicit. Any damage to the country and the world is their fault too. Perhaps the most disgraceful and cowardly is Mitch McConnell writing op-eds and casting a couple votes against candidates - I've got news for you Mitch, Trump 2.0 is your fucking fault and history will not be kind.

Would Trump have been convicted on J6 if Garland hadn't dragged his feet? Blame McConnel AND Garland.

Expand full comment

I didn't see any evidence that GOP senators thoroughly questioned much less vetted any of Trump's nominees. If they had, they would not have voted to confirm most of them nor been surprised that they support Trump's unbelievably pro-Putin foreign policy. We should have sent NATO troops, including American troops, to Ukraine as soon as Russia occupied Crimea. That would have prevented the 2021 invasion. Yes, I know that is radical, but Putin never would have taken a chance attacking Ukraine with American troops present.

Oh, Cassidy actually asked RFK Jr real questions. And then he voted for him because he's terrified of being criticized and primaried.

"There is overwhelming consensus on Capitol Hill that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a war criminal, NATO is critical to European and global security, and the United States has led the common defense."

Is it really shocking to find out that they care as much about those things as they do our democracy, our Constitution, our Rule of Law, and the health and well-being of their constituents?

It's the same old, same old - trying to have it both ways. Mealy-mouthed expressions of concern when they are as complicit as the trumpists in the undoing of EVERYTHING!

Why would anyone in the US government care if a European country was holding for trial a couple of accused human traffickers? Do the Tate brothers have something on Trump or on someone in the Trump group? Did the Tate brothers know Jeffrey Epstein? Is Trump afraid of what might come out in this trial if it ever occurs?

No Republican imagined Trump would do what he said he would do? Capitulate to Putin? What a big surprise.

RE: Andrew Tate, imagine their equal surprise that the Trump administration rose to the aid of a mysogynist and accused rapist. Who would have thought!?!

Expand full comment

Capitulate, wrong term. You don't capitulate when wholeheartedly executing the directives of your boss. You cooperate, and you serve, and you support, and you assist, but you don't capitulate. Because to capitulate there must first be opposition. Opposition does not apply to a tool in the hands of its master.
