I always come away from the Bulwark posts being smarter. Thank you for giving me a better understanding of world and domestic affairs.

Ughhh I’ve heard of the book $ p put out , seeing the cover made me a little ill this morning!

Lordy, lordy. It's getting curiouser and curiouser. Soon we won't recognize the USA, what with King Donald, a compliant Congress and Supreme Court, and the 12-plus billionaires he has recommended for his cabinet. Where is Sir Galahad when you need him?

Point out the deception and corruption in real time ... don't ignore and disengage from active measures to destabilize and misinform. I'd sit in rancid social media chats designed to get people to hate immigrants before the election for as long as I could take trying to refute the madness. I know my POV had an impact with some of the curious people passing through. I never saw any signs of people fighting back against hate in the social media spaces controlled by people getting paid to spread hate by Elon, with bots and the confused mingled together. The haters had free reign to repeat their message of hate and disinformation over and over again. Dems need to fight back and stand up loudly, proudly and often against corrupt SCOTUS rulings, Elon's paths to the presidency, and foreign interference.

I found myself nodding throughout Bill’s part of the newsletter. I know he doesn’t read the comments, that’s for JVL and Tim, but I hope a little of his wisdom is heard in high places. Jolani (have I got that right?) is talking a good game I guess but who knows.

Anyway we can celebrate Assad’s fall and the fact that for now at least he has to be in Moscow. May he have an apartment like the one Putin grew up in in St Petersburg.

Still waiting for democracy to bloom in the Middle East once Saddam was overthrown. I actually heard bill say that to a crowd in NYC back in the day. Go Bill.

It is 1692 once again. The Salem Witch Trials resume with feverish malice consuming the populace. No one can stand up to the inquisitors and deny their certitude in the pursuit and conviction of those deemed to be witches. To the inquisitors, denial of the existence of witchcraft is a certain sign of the guilt of person denying its existence. Furthermore, the accused is required to prove the non-existence of the purported criminal activity. Proving the non-existence of a non-existent entity requires all-knowing knowledge which is the role of God. Anyone accepting the challenge to prove such a non phenomenon must consider himself to be God which is heretical. Heretics must be punished. . . However, proving the non-existence of a non-existent entity is a logical fallacy. Nonetheless, the current mood, or vibe, has moved beyond the realm of logic.

"TRUMP: They cost Americans nothing. They made a great economy for us . . . It didn’t cost this country anything. It made this country money."

I think he really believes this. And once he believes something, he can't prise his mind open far enough to believe something different.

I am reminded of the MAGA patients who when they were told they were dying from Covid, said "There's no such thing as Covid! I have the 'flu. . ."

Covid? Flu? They still died. Taxes? Tariffs? You are the one who will be paying.

I would predict Mike Johnson folds like origami, into any shape Donald Trump desires, including jailer for his House colleagues. He is just another compliant cog in the Republican Fourth Reich, under Baby Hitler Trump.

I think I figured out the buffoon Trump's policy on prices. He made the claim that prices were going to come down real quick after he takes power Jan 20. Trump is going to announce his 'drill, baby drill' policy then. And since someone informed him of how integral oil is to our economy he thinks the price of EVERYTHING is then going to rocket downwards because we'll be awash in oil like NEVER BEFORE. Never mind that we already produce more oil than we have before, or that there's a base cost of extracting, refining and distributing a barrel of oil below which more oil will not be produced - regardless of how many oil leases are sold or how careless you allow producers to be in getting the 'black gold, Texas tea'. He'll blame the fact that prices aren't falling on Democrats or perhaps the deep state within government, or corporations that's preventing his OVERNIGHT TURNAROUND IN PRICES!

There is no question so obvious as "what law did they break?", yet interviewers seem reluctant to ask it of any Republicans when they threaten people with jail for no reason whatsoever. Don't these TV types make a lot of money? It's like paying millions to an NFL quarterback who hasn't completed a pass all season, yet game after game, the coach keeps sending him onto the field.

That, and the inanity of “will you direct your FBI Director and AG to go after your opponents?”, when both were selected at least in part because they have openly stated their desire and intention to go after his opponents.

Patel, before nomination: “Here is a list of people the Trump admin should go after. I’m glad to help make it happen.”

Trump: “I nominate Patel for FBI.”

Welker: “Will you direct him to go after your opponents.”

Trump: “No, it would be up to him.”

Good grief. Trump is a simpleton thug. And Welker is a pushover.

Though not optimistic trump’s advisers would do the right thing, if they show him it’s in HIS best interest to form a reasonable policy towards Syria, that would be helpful.

I don’t believe Trump is ever interested in or listens to reason.

He wants attention, power and money, in about that order. And he wants to dominate.

Tariffs are his attempt to dominate in financial negations. Mocking, name-calling and threats are how he tries to dominate the media, his political foes and yes, his supposed allies! He’ll do whatever he thinks benefits him re: Syria. And has the same motivation when it comes to any Presidential decision. What’s in it for him? Which includes: what satisfies his voracious appetite to dominate others?

One does wonder how many Republican Senators are privately wishing they’d shown enough backbone and respect for the Constitution and the rule of law to join with the House and the Democratic Senators to take Trump off the stage following January 6th. If one compiles all the public denunciations many of them made against Trump going all the way back to 2015 and after the riot, the rampant hyprocrisy of their refusing to convict him at least at his second impeachment trial is so blatant as to beggar the imagination.

Republican senators apparently calculated that angering MAGAs would be bad for their political future individually, and that rallying around Trump was the surest way to bring the party back into power. Tragically, their gamble paid off for them.

Sir, can you please list the specific statutes or laws that Adam Schiff or Liz Cheney have violated. And surely you must have some corroborating evidence. As the soon-to-be most powerful person on earth you must know that it would be completely irresponsible, if not dangerous, to make such claims if they are not based on specific laws along with evidence of criminal actions.

You know Kristen, that's one of the best questions I have ever been asked. I'll have to get back to you as soon as I release my tax returns, my medical records, my infrastructure bill, way better than Sleepy Joe's by the way, and my health care plan concept. Some say it's the best they've ever seen. It will make Barack HUSSEIN's Obamacare look like a third graders book report.

It isn’t just Republicans who we should be expecting to do something. I’m not a Trump supporter nor am I a Republican. I want to hear more from the Democrats and from others who recognize the danger of Trump. There should be a roar of voices everyday exposing what is happening to our government. For example, many of those who voted for Trump thought they were voting for someone who would take care of their needs. They saw Biden and the Democrats as too “sophisticated” - wealthy, white folks! I would expect a loud, continuous outcry pointing out Trump is the one appointing the very rich to positions for which they are totally unqualified. He is selling our government, one piece at a time to other people who are only interested in keeping and making more money. This isn’t a battle of philosophies or political ideas. This is about power and money! A great many people don’t remember or know about the history of Hitler’s regime. They have no real basis to recognize the danger or to believe that could happen to us. We can’t abdicate responsibility to the mainstream press to expose the ugly truth. Much of the media is under the control of the same greedy millionaires and billionaires!

They seem to try to soften or coverup the evil behind the actions! Where are the outcriers? Where are the desperate voices loudly exposing to everyone what is happening and calling everyone to join together to “stop the steal” - the steal of life as we’ve known it?

Democrats’ voices are raw and hoarse from crying out for the past 12 or more years their fears re Trump. Too few people listened. I just read an article about how the Koch brothers worked and gave millions since the early 1990’s to promote Conservative causes like DeRegulation and electing targeted Supreme Court Justices. It appears that now Democrat Governors are working on plans to live with the Trump-Musk Presidency rather than continue to speak what isn’t heard.

They can scream about all the outrageous things Trump is planning to do and the astoundingly unqualified nominees until they're blue in the face and it won't amount to a hill of beans. As many have said they, and we, just have to let Trump 'do his thing' come January and witness the shit hitting the fan like no shit has hit any fan before. Just be patient.
