Suddenly, all the pundits have forgotten that this was the most critical election of our lives and it has become just another time to figure out who got the most votes with each subgroup.
Kamala Harris lost the election. There must be something terribly wrong with her campaign, her character, the entire Democratic Party, and it will be ruined forever if they don’t act more like the winner.
This ignores that for thirty years, what was the Republican Party has morphed into a party that runs on lies, voter suppression, gerrymandering, bigotry, misogyny, and mostly on corruption, especially of our legal system. Donald Trump is the vulgar show-horse for a bunch of billionaires whose idea of capitalism runs afoul of democracy. So, they have Trump bring in the white supremacy, straight, male Christian vote, and stir up fears about everyone else. The most effective ad was trashing on trans people. They have no polices that will help 3/4 of the people who voted for them.
But they won, so we who opposed them should throw away our values, ethics, morals, and integrity because that is what it takes to win? Yes, let’s win by losing.
The world is out of control. Wars, technology, abortions, trans people, migrants eating dogs, golfers have big genitals, no job is safe, no religion cares about god or caring, every billionaire thinks he’s a genius, science is wrong, experts don’t know anything, and women need to be controlled.
Trump said he alone can fix all of this. In five months it will be obvious that Trump doesn’t even know what they problems are, he can’t fix it, and he will make everything worse. Then everyone will be yelling how stupid the voters were that they didn’t see this, and that Trump is a danger to the world. The pundits will blame everyone but themselves.
If you think that leaving Afghanistan was bad, wait until we pull the rug on the Ukrainians. We will watch men executed in front of their children, and the children sent to families in Siberia. America First!!
I completely agree except most of Americans will not watch or will nonot know about Ukranian men executed in fornt of their children Ukraine children sen to families in Siberia because RW media will not show any of these.
Agree in five months it will be obvious that Trump doesn’t even know what they problems are, he can’t fix it, and he will make everything worse. But his primary skill is finding a way to blame Democrats for anything, and his voters will buy it.
I’m not so sure. They voted him out before because things were terrible. If there is a recession, of inflation returns, if there is no one to work in nursing homes, picking vegetables, slaughtering animals, and cutting lawns, then everything will get more expensive. When the billionaires get even richer and 80% of Trump supporters don’t get raises, there is a good chance they will notice, especially if we tell them.
I agree all of that will happen and the pro-democracy coalition should do all it can to tell the voters why it's happening. I was only saying he will find a way to blame the Dems. And they'll buy that. It would be very hard for most people to admit they made a mistake.
That is assuming they are listening to you and not Fox, Newsmax, Elon, etc. Trump doesn’t have to convince his followers of anything, he’s got the right wing media for that.
When things start to go bad we will have to create events that will attract attention. I don’t know if they will get to Fox News, but they will get to local news. Demonstrate at supermarkets or electronics stores when prices rise. Video people being dragged out of their homes. Show people who can’t get treated when they’re sick. Companies will get bought and people will get laid off. I don’t know, but I expect, based on the MAGA history, that a lot of terrible things will happen, especially to the LBGTQ community and women. It’s already happening with “Your body, my choice” being chanted in high schools. The assholes have been released. I don’t think people voted for that. It won’t bring down the price of bread.
I hope you are right and it’s certainly worth trying. I’m a bit jaded. It seems there is no pretzel they won’t twist into to justify what Trump does, but maybe there are enough remaining who could perhaps be convinced. I just fear things like “well, if it weren’t for the Dems we wouldn’t have been forced to take such a position, but look what you made us do? If Biden (Obama, Clinton, Carter etc) had never been elected none of this would have had to happen.” As an example, my father who has farmed his entire life still gets pissed off to this day about the Jimmy Carter Russia grain embargoes. But when the Trump tariffs on China resulted in grain prices going into the dumpster and Trump paid farmers off with aid checks that amounted to substantially less than what they would have made well, not a word was said…if Trump did it then it’s ok. So, in my opinion all reason waved bye-bye a long time ago. But here’s hoping.
But it will be important for Trump’s mistakes and calculated evil to be properly covered and exposed by the press because at the same time as he destroys the planet he will be constantly gaslighting about what an amazing president he is and how beneficial things like mass deportations are for society. And then when it comes time for him to run for his third term, the brainwashed masses will think to themselves that if Trump was the finest president since Lincoln, he’s probably the best person to lead us out of the present economic and climate disaster.
You lost me on the voter suppression claim. That is a democratic myth. We're having better turn out than ever before. Asking someone to show an ID to vote is not voter suppression. Clearing the voter rolls of people who have not voted in years is not voter suppression. In fact it's required by the law. Other than that I think you had some good points.
The 10 million people who voted for Biden but didn’t vote in this election will be the first to realize they need to pay attention. Then the 16% of people who voted for Trump because the prices are too high will see the prices go higher and their wages go lower after he takes office.
Richard, you may be right, but it will not be the day after Putin enters Kyiv. His army is decimated and has been shown to be long only on ordering men into meat grinders who are dragooned and forced into marching into the hellfire. But he will have a lot of trouble repopulating his military without having to give much more to Kim since a new draft in Russia will be anything but a winning idea. The Baltics and Poland are NATO members and the remaining NATO Members (probably excluding Trumpland as it will soon be known) will not just sit by. True, Vlad the Bad has Nukes, but so do England and France and even tiny Israel which might not be happy about a Russian dominated Europe even if Bibi's bud Don asks him to sit it out.
Good points, David. But why would Bibi NOT be happy about a Russia-dominated Europe? Wouldn't that take away the current European pressure that supports a two-state solution?
Perhaps, but that has not bothered him now. No, I was referring to the Jewish pogroms in Russia that caused many to flee to the Holy Land. Memories are long in Israel. Russia and Iran, Israel's "archest" enemy are part of the growing Band of Evil and somehow I don't see Putin pressuring Iran to lay off Israel just because....what? Bibi understands that, IMHO.

Trump thinks Putin should have Ukraine. And he will help Russia get it.
Right. But it will flood the internet. It will be horrifying. Every algorithm will pick it up

I am still reeling from the fact that we have so much anger, so few critical thinkers that a man like dump can be re-elected.

No American troops on the ground in Ukraine. The outrage will be muted, sadly.

I've already responded to these points. The myth is that there is voter fraud.
Tapping into the vein of emotion always works. Resentment, fear of change, violence as solution, hate.
He had the vein that moves us most...emotion. We are not Vulcan.
Well put!
Trump is a master of finding scapegoats, pounding away at differences, dividing and splitting people, and repeating outrageous lies.
But he’s promised he’s going to unite us all!
Can't "like" what you right, because it is so accurate.
I also fear an expanded ground war in Europe. The first to go after Ukraine will be either the Baltic States or Poland.
Moldova will be before either the Baltics or Poland.
