I think we saw that not every single lie needs to be corrected, but chiming in when especially egregious untruths were uttered by Trump made a difference. It's quite rich that conservatives are upset because David Muir corrected Trump's ridiculous assertion that immigrants are eating pets, instead of being upset that Trump made the claim in the first place.
I disagree that the moderators did a good job, in one respect. They let him go on and on and on and on. The stats I've seen this morning said Harris spoke for 37.1 minutes and spoke 23 times, Trump 39 times for 41.9 minutes. They needed to shut him down much sooner than they did.
(I know there's a "let Trump talk" school of thought, but I don't think the moderators should have participated.)
That would be a valid point uf Trump were a normal candidate, not an insurrectionist intent upon blowing up the Constitution for personal gain. Whatever it takes to stop him (within the rule of law, of course).
I agree with you, it frustrated me last night. I do not like hearing him talk, and they could have muted his mic. However, think his talking dug him deeper into his crazy.
When the subject of election denialism was raised, I thought the moderators engaged in some sane-washing. They should have worked in Trump's recent claim that if Jesus had counted the votes, he would have won California.
Yep - and as JVL and AB mentioned last night, it's not as if the moderators weren't tough on Kamala. They asked her all the tough questions and she answered them all. Meanwhile Trump had multiple opportunities to lay in on Kamala but was too busy chasing Kamala's bait.

I think Harris was happy to let Trump blather on since all he does is dig himself deeper holes.

Also, Davis did correct the whole killing infants after birth with a simple statement that that is not legal in any state.
Re: the pets. Trump was surprised to be fact-checked and ended with a measly "We'll see about that/More to come" comment.
All-in-all, the moderators did a good job. They kept straight faces and did not react, that was shown anyway, to Trump's BS.
