I have no personal attachment to Biden. I know I've taken the debate hasn't effected the race that much and Biden will still win side.
But really, what I want to see is us pick an option: keep Joe/replace Joe and get on with it.
This middle option of being as undecisive as possible and then talking about it to the point of ignoring Trump for going on two weeks is what I see as the worst and most harmful option.
Let's keep our weapons pointed at who really has us in this mess: Trump and the GOP.
I am in complete agreement and so tired of the Biden bashing by never trumpers that I suspended my communications and am considering cancelling my membership too. Thank you for expressing my thoughts so well.
I understand your frustration and agree with your main point but it's not that easy. The Democrats have to convince Biden to go voluntarily. They can't just throw him out. In order to do that, you have to convince a proud man who has done a good job (a) he can't possibly win and (b) there is a viable process to pick someone who can win or at least has a much better chance. Right now that evidence doesn't exist, especially (b). Moreover, if he steps down, he is an immediate lame duck whose Presidency is effectively over.
1. If you go with the drop Biden camp (which is a perfectly reasonable take) you also have to be unified on the “who comes next.” If you are going to plan, plot and execute a coup, you can’t waffle on should we go with general x, y or z.
2. If you go with dropping jb my worry is you get 8 weeks of no news coverage on Trump. These last 2 weeks have proven that.
They could run a snap primary through Act Blue. I think polling Dem donors would give a pretty good idea of where the committed Dem base voter is at. Thumbs up or thumbs down is pretty simple.
Same thing different way. The delegates aren’t bound by what happens other than what is legally required which is to vote for Biden unless he drops out.
My only point is if it ain’t Kamala it will be an absolute shitshow
I agree whole heartedly that a potential shit show is definitely possible if it's not Kamala. I take hope from 2020 when the party quickly coalesced around Biden.
I suspect they are trying to do that, but there is enough difference of opinion, among enough people whose voices matter, that no clear choice is emerging, thus the status quo prevails by default. And so the campaign slogan becomes "Biden 2024, Because ... Because ... Just Because".
Can they do it without the constant din of pundits and now a movie star caterwauling? People don't like to be harangued. It gets their oppositional inner teenager up and moving which reduces the opportunity for clear thinking. I know it works that way with me. Probably works that way with the Biden team too.
Well, they could use the long list of positives JVL complied for the keep Biden argument for a start 😊 you, know, the one he said wasn’t compelling or some such 😂

VP Kamala Harris is waiting for the call.
2 problems with this liberal:
1. If you go with the drop Biden camp (which is a perfectly reasonable take) you also have to be unified on the “who comes next.” If you are going to plan, plot and execute a coup, you can’t waffle on should we go with general x, y or z.

Huh? No they can’t. This get decided one way or another by the delegates. The delegates are not giving up their power.
It would give the voters a shot to give some input. Biden is still the presumptive nominee.
Ok but what if mayor Pete gets like 2x the dollars of everyone else and yet they still choose Kamala.
I wasn't talking about voting by dollars, but just an up or down vote on Joe. Just more info for Joe to compute from grass roots donors.
Same thing different way. The delegates aren’t bound by what happens other than what is legally required which is to vote for Biden unless he drops out.

Yep that’s the hope. However they aren’t currently acting like it.
If Biden drops out, and Kamala becomes the nominee, get ready for some ugly stories about her over the next 6 weeks. It’s going to be gross.
Yeah, they probably could. But they need to decide and get on with it.

If you are going to go at the king you best not miss. Their problem is they can’t decide to go with general x, y or z
