Everything about the tenure of Supreme Court justices is wrong. They get lifelong terms and impeachment is nearly impossible. Thomas is cartoonishly unfit for the job but even his grift won’t do a thing, nor his support for his madwoman wife’s insurrectionism.
And then there’s Barrett, who would probably fail a psychiatric exam. “People of Praise.”
I think the Thomas/Crow scandal is huge and Democrats should do everything in their power to hold him accountable. It probably will come to nothing but that is so wrong. Abe Fortas resigned for so much less than what Thomas has done. Thomas truly acts like he's above the law and it's unacceptable.
We see far too little coverage of almost anything having to do with Africa, including the open warfare currently raging in Sudan. Blinken has said that Africa is a priority for the administration, and I believe him, but I'd like to see more about what State and the Senate are doing to address the suffering on the continent.
I would like to see a story covering the genesis of the relationship between Thomas and Crow. Seems to me Thomas has been played, his ego massaged, managed and manipulated. Another narcissist given power and prestige. Very dangerous.
I would really like to get Thomas under oath to ask if he ever reads briefs submitted for specific cases or does he just tell his clerks to find justification for what he has already decided.
Another fun fact about Supreme Court justices’ congressional testimony: nearly every year two justices testify before the House Appropriations Committee. While the hearing officially covers the SCOTUS budget request, the Committee questions justices on other matters relevant to the Court. It’s one of the few times Members of Congress can formally question justices. It can get interesting.
I don’t know if the Republican-controlled Committee plans a SCOTUS hearing for this year; if I were in their shoes, I’d skip it because of the Thomas controversies. Thomas has testified in the past.
How much longer is Thomas going to get a free pass for blatantly violating Federal laws in his financial statements? Hasn't he "amended" his financials often enough for the world to realize his income reporting is only what he thinks is pertinent, or what he was advised by still unnamed colleagues what wasn't necessary to list? Would he have sent in amended forms if he hadn't been caught? It seems each time he is found out he resubmits.
Enough is enough. Justice (and I use his title loosely) Thomas has shown himself to be not only corrupt, but hypocritical also. He claims he is an Originalist but his views are filtered through his hardcore Catholic upbringing even though only three of the Founding Fathers were Catholic.
IMO, the majority of the American people have had enough of Clarence Thomas - and his wife Ginni too.
There is no question in my mind that republicans will default. It is the only means they have to tank Biden's great economy. It isn't much consolation to what this will do to the country and the world for that matter but maybe just maybe America will finally wake up and crush the GOP.
The best piece of advice I ever got about negotiating or going out on strike was: “you’ve gotta know what you have to have to be able to say you won.” McCarthy and his merry band of nihilists seem to have absolutely no idea.
I for one am really sad Dominion settled for less than total vindication. I would very much have loved to have _ucker and Hannity groveling on the air in profuse apologies for their lies. You absolutely know FOX will spin it that they won.
I am sad we won't see that too. But I am very happy for Dominion that a company worth somewhere around (purportedly) 80M squeezed (nearly) 800M out of Fox. That does say something. Also, Fox has shown they're willing to settle for obscene money, so every other harmed party (Smartmatic? Family of Che Guevera? Fox affiliates? Crapped on employees?) should line up with their hands out.

I'll bet Joe Biden voted for Thomas. I remember him chairing the confirmation hearing.
No judge in Wisconsin would remain seated if engaged in Thomas's improprieties. He lacks personal integrity.
Biden voted for Thomas, didn't he?

Biden was a 'nay' vote on Thomas.

He probably doesn't even have to ask. They know what they're supposed to do otherwise they wouldn't be there.
Please cover Thursday!
I'll be doing one tomorrow!
Senator Dixon of Illinois I remember.

Px for the shuffling turtle: Lettuce and maybe a little hamburger.

Unlikely that a great awakening will happen short term. But I like your optimism.

Jim this was excellent, thank you very much.
And thx too for the cheerful photo of Chuck and a happy looking Fetterman ❤️
For Thursday's Press Pass, I'd like to know the reaction by Dem. and GOP MOCs to the Fox Settlement with Dominion Voting Systems. Thank you.

Yes, I feel the same. They should have had to get up and explain themselves.
