Each indictment may not lessen Trump's support in the Republican polls but they will make it more likely that, while in the privacy of the voting booth, some small number of them will withhold their vote for him. If even 1% of Trump voters across the country do this, it will still be a massive help.

Charlie's podcast with Christopher Miller about the situation in Ukraine is excellent and indispensable. Miller brings passion and a depth of understanding of the country, its history, its current leadership, its people, and the war itself that is exceedingly rare. I have been devouring Timothy Snyder's work since he published On Tyranny in 2016 and subscribe to his Substack, Thinking About. Marci Shore, also at Yale, is an eloquent writer on Ukraine, particularly on the 2014 Revolution of Dignity (Euro Maidan). Christopher Miller occupies that rank, IMO. Thank you, Charlie, for bringing us his voice. Miller's book is available in e-format, including for Kindle (<$10).

Yeah, I think the Grand Jurors in Atlanta might disagree with that.

Good question. If Trump loses again in 24, there's a chance, but Trumpism will linger.

re: "The DeSantis Effect"

RD got what he was after: one less liberal institution. He doesn't give a rat's patootie about the college he ruined, just putting another woke-notch in his belt. He's an idiot. Goes after the smallest school in the state, then picks a fight with Disney that costs that same state $2B. Way to go Ron! And, how's that deteriorating campaign going?

t***p is ruining lives daily. A man killed in Utah, a woman arrested in TX. He doesn't care these people mean nothing to him. Americans mean nothing to him except how much money he can grift from them. Our country is nothing to him but something to possess and control and use. The evil that is t***p permeates the Republican party and poisons everything it touches.

"A lot of Republicans are just hoping the trump will die."

I'm reminded of that old saying:

"Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did.

Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job.

Everybody thought Anybody could do it,

Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody. although Nobody did what Anybody could have."

I will use the covid lockdown poll result as my #1 example of the cult that is Trump.

The Republican party is a violent, criminal enterprise that is a national security threat to our nation, to law and order, and to law-abiding citizens. Any Republican that does not speak out against this thuggish cult is complicit!

To that 12 item list enumerated by Mr. Boykin (91 criminal charges, 26 sexual assault allegations, 6 bankruptcies, etc...), I'd add one last line at the bottom:

And counting.

Permit me to hijack the comments a moment. Yesterday the Fifth circuit issued a ruling in the Mifepristone case. Though they did not agree the drug should be removed from the market, they did issue extremely strict guidelines that would make it incredibly hard to get. This is not a surprise. However one of the judges wrote his own separate opinion. I wont copy and paste the whole quote from Dr. Heather Cox Richardson's Letters of an American but I would urge you to go read it.

Judge James Ho, who was sworn into office by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in his billionaire benefactor Harlan Crow’s library in 2018 (Texas Republican senator Ted Cruz was also there), wrote his own opinion in the case in order to expand on what he sees as “the historical pedigree of Plaintiffs’ conscience injury, and to explore how Plaintiffs suffer aesthetic injury as well.”

go read it.

“We’re just waiting for him to die.” The GOP has basically arrived at the same position his family has been at for likely quite some time.

I love the fact that Abigail Jo Shry is so devoted to her Cheeto God that she even adopted his approach to crimes: namely, commit them in a format consistent with her leader: recorded.

OMG!! This is effin' perfect!! My wife nearly fell out of her chair when I read it aloud to her with a, shall we say, appropriately interpretative verve!!

Aaack! Indeed!! Don't know if you've ever seen the flick Mars Attacks in which 'ack' is the native tongue of the invading little green men, but that made me start wondering if the following might not be the Deus Ex Machina (or unicorn or whatever) those Rs Charlie mentioned seem to be waiting for...

(If unfamiliar, Jack Nicholson plays POTUS James Dale)
